That's true, but the House has increased the odds of discovering things that can bring down the president, including control of committees and subpoena powers.

And with those subpoenas and the information they will bring to light, Senate Republicans will not long be able to hide behind "We didn't know". The days of House Republicans shielding their Senate colleagues is coming to an end. Depending on how bad it turns out to be for Trump, there may come a point when Senate Republicans have to decide whether cutting him loose will be what they need to save their brand. I think the chances of a Senate conviction are slim, but they aren't zero. 

I'm curious (champing at the bit curious) to see what, if anything, comes out of Mueller's team between now and the swearing in of the new congress.

A conviction is highly unlikely, considering the GOP Senate has no ethics.

But his tax records are going to come out now hopefully. And there is no way now he can fuck with Mueller. 

If Dems do this right, they can expose enough dirt on the family he'll make an excuse about health or family issues and step down, or he will become so politically toxic he wont win a second term. Not a given, no, but we are in a much better position now than if they had kept the House.
