Let’s say there’s a "value" function V which determines what the value is of any input X. It gives a result on a scale of 0 (no value) to 1 (maximum value).

The article is claiming that there is such a function V so that for mortal human life M, V(M)=0.

The question now becomes whether this is an objective value function. As usual, you have to be specific about what you mean. It can easily be made objective, as in the result is not dependent on anyone's opinion; V(X)=0 for all X is such an example. But for a different value function, V(M) may not be zero. Who gets to decide which value function we use? That choice is obviously not objective.

Well I'm not gay because I'm not gay. 
But I think what you are saying is that gay people live as straight people because the bible tells them to deny who they are and suffer all their life for an imagined reward or lack of punishment when they die.
