Why indeed.

(I could answer the question for you very accurately, but I doubt that you’ll find that answer in any way helpful to your goal of making assholes squirm)

-and, ultimately, whether you ever find a satisfying answer to that question, if we stopped that nonsense....that still wouldn’t mean that we had to open the borders.

^^^^^ Once again, soooo much this. Trump and the GOP love the politics of "otherism". Scapegoat and vilify anyone and everyone who questions your power. And not just on immigration, but attacking war heros, his own intel, and the free press.

Instead what we should be doing to strengthen the country is to pay livable wages in all states, red or blue, stop worrying about giving tax breaks to giant corporations that don't need them. That way you could FUND more facilities, hire more judges to speed up the process, not have kids or adults in courts whom cant understand what the court is telling them. We wouldn't have to bail out banks and car companies and housing companies. We wouldn't have a bubble every decade like we do currently. We could pay down the national debt.

But no, the GOP and Trump need the rural white person angry at the urban black person, and even those in the suburbs divided. Easy to fleece society with power when you convince them you are on their side and everyone else is your enemy.

The GOP would lose every election if they were forced to solely run on economics.

If somebody locked their kid in their car for 10 minutes while they went into a store - you would have them arrested for child abuse and the kids put in foster care----

But drag the kid into the desert following human traffickers - and those parents are your hero........

Well, now wait a minute. I thought your question was regarding US immigration enforcement policies. How did we go from that topic to the topic of decisions parents who live in non-U.S. countries make, and whether or not they’re morally correct? That’s called a ‘red herring’. Gae gave you an honest response (and raised a valid point) with regard to the enforcement of immigration law in America. That’s what you wanted to talk about, isn’t?

This thread was derailed on the first page thanks to people adding to a two or three line post what they thought they read instead of responding to what was actually written.

Now getting side-tracked is an issue.

Fuck that.

I also don't have to jump on the bandwagon that circles around either.

Gae gave you an honest response (and raised a valid point) with regard to the enforcement of immigration law in America. He deserves one back. That’s what you wanted to talk about, isn’t?

He made a response. He did not answer the question.

Big difference.

The question - should we deport those people who have been given a hearing - and were denied?

I got lots of responses - but not one direct answer.

I got called lots of names and was falsely accused of being anti- immigration.

I expect we will see a bunch more of that - but we won't see a simple yes or no answer to my question.

@onlinebiker

You want to talk about the enforcement of immigration law. So, let’s talk about it. Is it a fair and reasonable law that allows toddlers to represent themselves at their hearings? You’d like to know what the point is of having these laws in the first place if they aren’t enforced. A valid counterpoint to that question is “are the laws fair in the first place”? Can you respond to that counterpoint without deflecting?
