Well, at least I know not to criticize liberals from now on. SMH.

It's doubly fucked because the guys from Ohio, which doesn't exactly make me ecstatic to be a Buckeye. He's from a very conservative area as well. Steubenville is a huge pipeline for illegally manufactured guns.

He's being described as a sexual predator, which makes sense seeing as how the mother of his first victim filed a lawsuit that cited sexual battery and assault among the wrongful death charge.

I'm not really following the conversations, just had a relevant point with a political metaphor. The preacher used a really good analogy yesterday, Have you ever picked up sticks in a yard. Some are really bent, some are just a little crooked, but none are really truly straight. When you bundle them up one by one, they seem to form a straight bundle. Perhaps this is like politicians, grouping together to hide their crookedness in the hopes they appear straight and true.

It's just a big good ol' boys club. Democrat or Republican, a lot of the time it doesn't seem to matter. People in power tend to just think they can do whatever the fuck they want, regardless of their political leanings.

Sort of like priests who fuck little kids.

Agreed, I don't believe the problem is with politics, or the church or even power. I'm not convinced power corrupts people, rather amplifies poor character or more precisely corrupt people abuse their power. Perhaps the continued choosing of the lesser of 2 evils in our party system here in the US has eroded the people within politics to the point it's only able to act corruptly?

No, people have a choice. It just so happens that the corruption that power breeds is tempting, and tends to get the better of most, if not all weak men and women, as well as some of the strong.

I agree that people have a choice, and was specifically pointing out that it isn't power or money, of itself, that corrupts. I also specifically pointed out that whatever tool we use, be it power or money, is a tool that amplifies. It amplifies poor character and bad choices based on the intensity of it's societal impact. I'm not for sure what you're specifically disagreeing with. Are you denying that systemic misuse of power and wealth could contribute to societal acceptance of corruption and poor characters? I was merely positing that, in our predominantly 2 party system, systemic abuse has left us bereft of a viable solution or pool of uncorrupt contenders. I don't mean to say that anyone could choose the right path 100% of the time, but I think what we have a is a limbo situation with regards to political ethics in America. How low can you go?

At the moment the republicans bundled together certainly look more crooked than most of them might dare to be on their own just as a lynch mob will kill even if no one in the mob might have individually dared.
