Uh, my only comment was to say I didn't think the Democratic bit worth mentioning. You'll not that I also didn't mention it in my first comment in this thread. I'm not a Democrat, so I don't know why you think I'm on edge about this. You seem more bothered than I do.
Lol is this your way of saying "i know you are but what am I?" How funny.

Do you read?

I did not once make any comments that suggested you were being nefarious. In fact, I ignored the Democrat part of your title because I know it was part of the news story and then commented to defend you, saying that you weren't arguing that Democrats were deranged drug addicts. Fuck's sake, man. You're calling other people paranoid? You just picked a fight with someone who was defending you. Nitwit.

You're not getting what I'm saying. Maybe I'm not being clear enough... But...

Please stop with the "you're the one being paranoid" nonsense. I really think we're too old to be having "rubber glue sticks to you" arguments. It's petty and childish. I'm calling out an unwarranted reaction to a thread title that is directly related to what the title of the CNN article is. And yes, it does come off as paranoid. Even statements like "you might be implying..." comes off as paranoid.

Would a thread title including the word 'republican' automatically be an assumption that all behaviors described in the OP can be assigned to every republican? No. If it is a thread title describing something that all republicans do, then okay. But then it isn't an assumption is it?

I mean damn dude this is the only forum I know of where people lose their minds if a dem is criticized.

However, I liked your post for a reason... I saw that you were trying to be reasonable. Sheesh.

Note to self: never criticize Democrats on AF. Holy shit lol

Well, here's an illustration from last year: Benjamin Sparks, advisor for ex-congressman Crescent Hardy (R-NV), was outed as having turned his fiancee into a sex slave. And this wasn't just some fun roleplay done in a safe, sane, and consensual way; she says "“Over the last month it escalated into very rough sex where he’d actually hurt me. He back-handed me… and forced himself on me.” I found out about this, and I made a thread about it. Title? Republican advisor made a woman a sex slave. I did not necessarily imply that this was done officially for the Republican party, although, I have to admit that given how brazenly misogynistic the Republican party has become (to the point where The Handmaid's Tale has gained a newfound sense of relevance), I did imply that it was a logical conclusion of their ideology. And still I got some pushback. Not quite as much as you did, but still.

Margaret Atwood has actually come out and said the Hand maids tale is now more relevant than ever.

The difference being I never implied this man's behavior stemmed from his political affiliations. It's just a catchy title that is directly related to what the story is about. Lol

Having mentioned it as part of the title does somewhat imply that you think there's a connection. However, it seems you pulled that from the headline of the news article you shared, which is a logical thing to do when you share a news item.

I'm not seeing ED make the connection between being a Democrat and being a piece of shit who tries to kill people with meth, so it's a bit of strawman to argue that Democrats aren't all like this guy. It's fine to mention, but it doesn't refute ED because he didn't take that position.

To be honest, "Democratic drug den" is a clear and unambiguous implication that the drug den is either endorsed by the Democrat party or as a result of Democrat policy. It is way different in tone and content from the title of the article: "Democratic donor Ed Buck charged with a felony for running a drug den", which has problems of implication by itself.

If Egodeath doesn't want to be seen to make a statement that this kind of action is as a result of official Democrat actions, he should change the title (or get a mod to change it if he can't). I would say that this is a clear violation of the rule on thread titles, as it is a clear and obvious slur on the Democrat party as a whole, implying they either engage or authorise illegal behaviour.

So, "Democratic Donor's Drug Den" would probably be a more neutral way of putting it. Not perfect, but given that Ed Buck was most well-known as a political activist who worked with Democrats, it's admittedly an understandable flaw, and a bit less misleading.

That said, I doubt Ego could change it if he wanted to, for one simple reason:

RE: Democratic Drug Den
Nah. Not changing the title even if I could because it is adapted from the actual title of the CNN article. Not my fault if you guys are triggered by it. I'm a Democrat, and Ed Buck happens to be a Democrat. I never made a claim that his behavior stems from his political leanings. Nor did I suggest that this is behavior that any other Democrats engage in. You guys who are upset by this are reading way too into it. Maybe this is the type of behavior that got Trump elected. Let's hope it doesn't get him reelected.

It is very telling, however, that instead of commenting on the article, some of you chose to criticize my creation of the thread. God forbid any of us criticize a Democrat. Then again, we don't believe in god, do we?

Thirty eight posts in this thread, and seven of them have to do with the fact that a guy was injecting people with illicit drugs.

I'm as surprised as you are. Apparently we aren't allowed to criticize liberals around here, even when they do egregious things.

What's crazy is a man was found dead in his apartment in 2017 and no one seemed to bat an eye. I'm not sure if it was strictly a race thing or if he just does this to people addicted to drugs, but so far the two men found dead have been African-American. It makes one wonder why he wasn't charged the first time, and whether or not it had to do with him being a wealthy white man.

Either way, it's terrible. Unfortunately, like I said before, the asshole will never see a day in general population, even if he does go to prison. He'll probably spend his days in protective custody with child molesters, rapists and other people considered "undesirable" in prison.
