That’s a myth, I think. I bought my first and only lottery ticket when I was 24. It won me £20 (I quit while I was ahead) and no one tried to fuck me to death over it.

I got a check for $25k at one point and deposited it my credit union account. Because of legal wrangling with an insurance company - I began taking the money out in cash and locking it up in my gun safe. By the end of the month the money was "gone". (And safe in my safe).

I got a call from a lady I knew as a friend. She wanted to start dating... "How come you and me never got romantic".....(I happened to be single at the time)

...

Long story short - she had a friend who worked at the credit union.

By the time I cleaned out the account - she quit returning my calls......

I still kinda chuckle over that one...
