After reading up on her, she seems like a damned good choice - there’s very little for the right to attack her on, she’s experienced, she’s articulate, and she’s scary smart. As a centrist, she’s not going to appeal to progressives, but that doesn’t matter much, as Biden doesn’t need them to win. OLB is correct that NRA types won’t like her, but not enough of them were going to vote for Biden to matter anyway.

What she’s going to do for the ticket is to solidify establishment Democrats and very likely cut into Trump’s support among liberal Republicans. And as a sitting Senator, her being on the ticket makes it somewhat more likely that the Senate will flip.

Looks like a very well thought out choice.

When running against Biden for the primaries - she said that if Congress would not work with her - she would issue executive orders to ban the importation of AR-15s....

Sounds good, right? (If you lean that way).

Two problems.

1. It is ALREADY illegal to import AR-15s...  It has been for decades. She is either completely clueless about the situation - or she thinks her possible constituents are morons.

2. She does not have the authority to do so (if she could). Such a ban would require congressional action.


But hey - it sounds good and she looks great, right?

The selection is a minimal effort at pandering to black voters (which by all indications, the Dems are indeed hemorrhaging) and a slick attempt at offering the illusion that the Democrat Party intends on saying no to the Far Left lunatic fringe--when their words, actions, and thousands of hours of video footage says otherwise. BLM/Antifa is the new Klan--i.e., enforcement arm/paramilitary wing of the Democratic Party.

I wasn't inclined to vote in this election, but having seen this shit-show play out before me it's apparent that the Dems are poised to give the middle finger to the Constitution and bring the entire house down on all of us--black, white, privileged, oppressed, puppies, pumpkin eaters, etc.---and at long last, rebuild America into the commie/Socialist hellscape of their dreams. 
And the Leftist mob is to blinded by their TDS and want for UBI and other free shit to see it.

I'm perfectly fine with Kamala Harris. Her record in the Senate is very liberal, and much better than her record as Attorney General. Some people won't like it, and some people won't vote for him for it -- but they're the ones who were never going to vote for him in the first place (Unless their misogny somehow makes them okay with Biden, but NOT okay with Harris).

At this point, I'd vote for any semi-sensible human being over Donald Trump. Biden and Harris meet those qualifications. I prefer whatever they have to offer to theocratic fascism.

Given the way the Democrat party votes shrink massively in the midterms when they've the presidency and why, I would suggest they need the progressive vote to a far greater extent than any commentator iswilling to admit.

They do, and that need is only going to grow with every cycle. The youngest and most leftwing voters (the same group, incidentally) might make up 8% of the pop (as of 2018)...and growing, but it's posited that they make up to a third of likely democratic voters due to their increased political activism. Or dem vote candidates, if we prefer...they might not vote, but if they did...

The right is apoplectic about this, it's this cohort that they fear - and it's for this reason that they direct the accusations that form their campaign message....that are likely (at least partly) true of that inevitable force in american politics...at an old guard which doesn't represent that cohort, but skews more closely to their own views. Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot. In disarray. All that.

If there's anything other than a white identity movement left of the republican party, those republicans need to build a coalition with right-leaning dems like Biden and Harris. That's a practical reality of facing what amounts to a coming third political party that will, absolutely will, outnumber both sides of the current establishment together.
