California High Capacity Magazine Ban Shot Down.

RE: California High Capacity Magazine Ban Shot Down.
I love it when gun nuts are like "But i'm not a danger to society therefore laws that could effect me shouldn't exist " from there it goes into stupid suggestions like

1.Targeting the mentally ill  without any actual plans to really invest in it

2.Arm everyone to the teeth of course if that actually worked the US should be the safest country on earth . It isn't

3. Say go after the "bad guys" while ignoring this isn't a John Wayne and the villian don't wear black hats .Everyone has the potential to be a killer .

All in all dumb solutions

Such bans are simply knee jerk legislation with no real reasoning. If you believe "lives will be saved" by such bans - you mark yourself as a ill informed advocate for dumb legislation. Short take - you don't know what you are talking about.

When responding to this thread - it would be nice if you state your "credentials" - so others can judge the legitimacy of your statements.

I have over 50 years of experience with firearms. I qualified expert with both the M16 and 1911a and qualified with the riot shotgun (pass/fail rating) while in the service of the USCG. I have owned 100s of guns, sold 1000s and built several from blank recievers. I have had a concealed carry permit since Sept 13 of 2001 and carried daily without incident.

You would be hard pressed to find a firearm that I could not safely pick up - load and fire - with no instruction at all.

What are your thoughts on magazine capacity limits?
I live in a country where restrictions on this sort of thing led directly to a reduction in gun deaths.

Indeed in every country where restrictions have been introduced its been successful.

In the US it seems you value your guns more than your people.

Sure.
People in your country now commit suicide less with a firearm.

But - do more now step off a high building?

...

You might want to walk closer to the curb.

Wouldn't matter

Or not because it's irrelevant if cars kill more .This isn't isn't a contest .

How would larger capacity magazines affect suicide rates?
But anyhoo.
The main problem with large capacity largely unregulated weapons is when they are used for mass shootings.
Mass shootings have stopped.
Other weapons have been used knives, cars and acid BUT they are much less effective and lead to less deaths and injury than people with guns have in the past.

Guns are efficient weapons of death and are why militaries don't go into battle with knives as the main weapon.

I still don't understand why anyone would want or need to carry a firearm, must be hell to live in a country where people are so scared all the time!

Serious question to Americans: Would you feel more safe if you knew that there weren't so many guns around?

I ask because where I live we do not have any handguns, and normally it doesn't cross my mind that anyone I encounter on the street would have a handgun. Also, this means that criminals don't normally have any handguns either.

Most people aren't scared all the time. You can tell the ones that are scared, just use a metal detector.

Eight children a day are killed or wounded by handguns legally bought and kept in the home improperly. If there weren't so many irresponsible gun owners that number would be smaller.

An idiot with high capacity.magazines will kill far less than if they had a big stack of 10 round magazines..

It's called stupid exuberance.

With high caps they shoot a bunch of holes in ceilings - and run out unexpectedly.

With 10 round (or smaller) they tend to aim more and keep better track of rounds expended.

Banning high cap mags is just kneejerk stupid legislation.
