Evangelicals, Trump and a Quick Bible Study

RE: Evangelicals, Trump and a Quick Bible Study
-case in point.

Treating others as we want to be treated covers alllll of that. You have before you a person who claims that his god told him to be groovy to people, and this is him being groovy to people.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The amount of contradictions in the Bible tells me they did not have an uniform story. Rather it seems like a case of "covering all bases".

because i like it when people point out my sheer stupidity and lack of coherency so i can adapt and make personal change if needed.. at min i evaluate myself and thoughts at the very least... treating people the way YOU want to be treat means i treat you the way I want to be treated. this does not mean treat them/you the way they/you want to be treated.

the op made many stupid assumptions and assigned them to the evangelicals.. and at the end treated the evangelicals as a mindless twits for their beliefs in scripture (which btw are closer to the mark than the op's assessment) results in the op being treated by me how he spoke to the evangelicals.. like a foolish twit for not know the scripture he was preaching about.  If you guys do not want me to treat you with a heavy hand/be more respectful to you then SHOW RESPECT when you think you are in the right on a principle or teaching some well meaning brother may have trouble with.

Because i can promise you just because you all agree there is no god and were not able to use the bible successfully to find God, I promise you most of what you believe about this God the bible and His religion is wrong. Now the way i see it we can do this civilly/ask an honest question get an honest answer. or you can play pretend your a teacher/know better/in a position to tell christians what they should or should not believe, and i can hand you your ass o each and every subject.. your choice. why? not only am i treating you as you treat others, but because you are assuming the role of a teacher (for or against God) your judgement/God's scrutiny over your life will be twice as hard as a regular person. He will use your bs to judge you and i can promise none of you will stand up to it. so better you see your bs for what it is now and let it go. than try and stand before god with it.. because if i can use this to kick in your teeth/butt hurt you with my critical examination, WTF will you do at your judgement before God?

Donald Morgan's old compiled list is still there on infidels.org

https://infidels.org/library/modern/dona...tions.html

Most of them are due to self-defeating errors in logic as a result of contradictory statements, IOW internal error. The other type is sequence of events that display incongruity (B happening before A, when sequentially A happens before) resulting in chronological error. There are also inconsistencies, but those are from a lack of clarification or missing information.

Still being groovy, in a respectful way.  Never stop being you.

I assume that I'll die in a fire or be tormented forever and ever or cease to exist™ - or whatever happens to be popular on am radio this month. Easy question.

My turn, how often do you fantasize about kicking members teeth in? On a scale of one to christ, how groovy is that?

RE: Evangelicals, Trump and a Quick Bible Study
Abortion isn't murder and a fetus isn't a being where the social contract would apply. Your own Bible says as much, though I defer to science.
Quote:again new testament new law.
So are you saying the OT got it wrong? Was that not also penned under the influence of Yahweh? Or did Yahweh change his mind? And please cite for me in the NT where it now says "life begins at conception".
Quote:again you are looking for a completely different religion to spell out rules like the ot jews had. christ completed the law giving us a new law which only contain two rules that represented what one should do when confronted with any part of the old law. you only have these problems of understanding because you pretend/do not truly understand there are two different religions being represented here.
Same question as before. Are you saying the OT is wrong?
Quote:two which christ countered he who is without sin cast the first stone..
So the OT is wrong then?
Quote:sanctified marriage is the key.
Show me chapter and verse where it says "one man and one woman"
Quote:1/2 truth= whole liar. man and woman appears in the bible as being the only case for a marriage god approves.
But not ONE man and ONE woman. Dance around that point all you like.
Quote:apples and oranges/misdirection/red herring. because the subject matter is homosexual marriage, not number of spouses. to which despite the number of women david was married to at one time the only relevant point to this discussion of gay marriage is all his partners were born female.. Hence sanctified marriage.
Is there some part of the word "ONE" that you find confusing?
Quote:because he could not afford your morality, because he could not risk survival of his whole clan on stupid principles people who live so disconnected from the way he lived they can not even imagine a time where his choices were for the good of the species...
Sounds like you're making feeble excuses. The ancient Greeks managed to practice monogamy at the same time in history. Poverty and infant mortality didn't magically go away by the time Jesus arrived on the scene. And if monogamy was so important to Yahweh, he could have created better conditions in the first place. He is responsible for the environment, after all, given how he made it.
Quote:i think you need to pull the B/S out of your own eye/what is keeping you from seeing the obvious truth, before you worry about the evangelicals.
The obvious truth is that we live in a natural world governed by predictable laws best understood through science and reason. As for your Bible, I read what's on the page.

Dude you know as well as anyone here i can be very respectful and i work hard to provide you with the information you all pretend to seek. it's the atheist pride and demand to be on top.. that i help cut back with a good dose of humility.

your fate is between you and god. don't assume one way or the other as there is not a set bar rather you honestly working the best with what you had. this might not translate into riches/good job in heaven, but it doesn't automatically mean hell either.

2-3 times a month.. kicked in teeth is better than hell. "If your hand causes you to sin cut it off as it is better to enter into the kingdom with one hand than it is to enter hell whole." but seriously.. i say that to help you all to manage your pride.. most of you find it hard to do a victory lap when i take the bite out of your arguments.

Drich, this is going to be hard for you to hear - but I gaurantee you that no one here thinks that you can be respectful or work hard, or provide anyone with any information that anyone is seeking.

None of that is in you. That's not what you're here for.

More like between god and god.  I don't get to tell a god what to do with it's broken human vessels.  I think that it would be better if you didn't imagine other people going to hell, or kicking their teeth in.

Did christianity do this to you? What...exactly, do you think my argument is...? I only have the one, this should be easy.

I think you're exactly right. Trump-supporting American Christians are about as far away from Christ's words as it's possible to get.

In fact I suspect it's possible to read the whole of Christian history as a tension between this worldly, selfish, money-hungry version and a red-letter version that does pretty much the opposite. (With variations according to the era, of course.) In the Middle Ages, for example, there were already strong antinomian movements that called the established church worldly and corrupt. St. Francis thought he was returning to origins. Luther thought he was doing the same. We can argue in each instance whether the reformer was really doing things Christ's way, but at the time they seemed to think so.

There was a particularly vigorous anti-establishment movement in Britain around the time of Cromwell. The Diggers, Levelers, Ranters, etc., were preaching communism, anti-royalism, and in some cases free love. They saw rank and file Anglicans in the way that you and I see modern US Evangelicals. (And I suspect they were largely right.) When the monarchy came back they mostly went underground, but survived a long time in semi-secret.

One of the frustrating things on this forum is that people often write about Christianity -- or even all of religion -- as if it was only one thing. But the fiercest criticism of hypocritical establishment Christians has come from within Christianity. Sad to say, there are probably more Falwells around today, but there were also Thomas Mertons and William Sloane Coffins. And Abiezer Coppes and William Blakes.

There is no such thing as a christ, you moron, so there is no such thing as “word of Christ‘. Not is any such thing as word a Christ would vouch for.

There is only most contemptible And unscrupulous huckster or the same kind as trump, words those hucksters find convenient to use to aggrandize themselves, and words they find convenient to use to appeal to other people’s soft spots to disguise their own motives, so they can better achieve their own objectives.  That is the entire bible.  That is the word of Christ.

trumpish unscrupulous bastards, and fools are are tools of those bastards, and just fools.   That is the essence of Christianity, that is also why as a phenomenon Christianity Tend to finds so little to object in trump.
