Why invent an imaginary friend to calm you about it?

Actually, when you think about it, there is nothing comfortable about an afterlife or a deity watching you, people suffer enough in this life, so to add an eternal life that can take the form of punishment is not something one would invent to feel better.

Nope, but there pretty much has to be alot of trivially true things about the mundane and the divine world.  Triviality is something that you should be comfortable with.  Your beliefs revolve around the trivial-called-mundane.

How we should live...our life.  What is and is not not verboten...in this life.  Every second of every day of this mundane life, and it probably isn't the case that all of those seconds are consequential.  That all of those decisions are consequential.

Your god draws the line at the deli aisle, for example.  That's mundane and trivial.  Do you really have an issue with divine triviality, or do you have an issue with people calling divine triviality trivial, as it is?

I don't think I understand exactly what you're saying here. Usually anything related to the divine or the existence of a divine entity should be taken seriously. That some religion or belief in this deity instructs people on how to do various mundane things in life isn't really a defect.

While correct, That's not what your fellow theists keep telling us lol.

Yes, he does. There is nothing in religion to take seriously. It's you that missed his point.

Think again, smartypants.

But let's, for this instance, assume that your mental masturbation (without ever ejaculating) is true, i.e. hypothetically. Now, what would it take for you to challenge the notion that you DIDN'T exist before you were conceived?

And before you reply; what about the 2 separate entities, the human male sperm and the human female egg that joined in a beautiful Harmony and some 9 months later you appeared on Earth, "destined" to post this shit reply, that I, who was made in a similar fashion, just elsewhere on this iron rock, made my genius hypothetical? Are those egg and sperm you? Think about that, as you flail your hands on the keyboard, without ever ejaculating. I, on the other hand, have no problem accepting the facts of human biological reproduction. Must be icky, right? I think I'll go watch Olga Scheps make love with a piano in the meantime, while you attempt to wash all the ickiness off.

The Grand Nudger, in his usual artistic fashion has succeeded in planting an idea in your head. I hope you're OK with me pointing this out, TGN ... this dude is clueless, you see.

The scenario where his meal has been eaten, is a mundane situation. And the evidence required to be pretty sure that one or both of his children ate it, is also mundane.

Now we're getting somewhere. And why is it mundane, sir ? How can such trivial matters resist any attempt to give a logical proof ?

It's mundane because there are absolutely no reasons to speculate any explanations, other than purely natural ones. The kids ate it, the kids dropped it on the floor and did not want to get blamed for it so they lied, the wife ruined the dinner so she threw it away, a homeless person broke in and ate it, a stray dog snuck in and ate it, etc. That's why it is a mundane.

If the kids claimed dinner stealing pixies appeared out of thin air and ate it, that is no longer a mundane claim and requires much more evidence.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

At work.

Klorophyll doesn't realize the total banality of the scenerio they've presented.

Just tacking the label "Rilly smart thinking thing." on it, like some sort of random bucket of paint splashed over a sow, doesn't elevate their supposed thought experiment into some higher 'Grokkesphere' of contemplation.

It's as if they want to take a skit from 'The Simpsons' and hold it up to say; "This! This is Nobel prize winning phsycology! Think upon this and be erudite-d!"

While the Simpsons' can be good comedy and possibly a mirror back at social commentary sometimes.

Revealing the secrets of reality it ain't. Just as Klorophyll's little thought experiment fails to stir anything in one's imagination.

Should it?  How seriously do you find yourself taking the whatsits and doosits of the gods these days?

RE: A very clever alien..
Klorophyll,

Let's examine your story for a bit.

"Earlier today, the alien announced that he reached the absolute best explanation of all observable phenomena in the universe, he even proved that his Theory of Everything cannot be improved any further."

This is an alien who spends a great deal of time thinking. He's in his own head space quite a bit.

"Our same alien asked his wife this night to make dinner for him, as his research work is taking all of his waking time. She wasn't there when he returned home."

One might conclude that his wife is imagined or maybe they divorced long ago. Perhaps he comes home every night expecting a meal from his imagined wife or from a wife he no longer has.

"Feeling completely exhausted, he fell asleep for some minutes, woke up and went for his long-awaited meal."

At this point, we might conclude that he's still asleep and everything from this point on is a dream. He is exhausted and therefore would probably sleep for more than some minutes.

"It appears one of his two kids mercilessly swallowed it. After he confronted them, they simply said : any formal proof that we ate your dinner, sir ?"

Now this is point where we might dig up some evidence for him still being asleep. Duality is a common theme in dreams. Things come in pairs. This story doesn't need two children. Why two ? Why not more than two ? Why any children at all ? The children represent what he wanted in his life, but couldn't attain. He either never had a wife or maybe the wife left with his two children. The missing dinner represents something missing in his life. Something taken away or something he never had in the first place.

It is my conclusion that this alien is very lonely and despite how intelligent it is, it cannot solve that one elusive puzzle.

How does one start or maintain a successful relationship ?

So the children cover up all evidence of their existence? This must surely mean the children don't want their father alien to believe that they ate the cereal. And if we're using this as a comparison to God, then that must mean God doesn't want people to believe in his existence.

I think that, rather than dealing with any problem our hypothetically super smert alien may have (which..given the premise, unlikely).....

....we're dealing with Kloro,

Kloro is not a super smert alien like that and is so not that™ that he can't even imagine or describe some cogent intellectual dilemma that a creature that fit the description would have.
