And where were you in the last years?? struggling to take your head out of the sand and see what the blind politics and double standards took human societies to ?

You kept watching shit hitting the fan until it actually hit the fan in 2016 with the advent of populism to the west, but you keep defending it.
You kept watching as wars, murder and butchery grow until it became a standard nowadays.

You done nothing, not even supporting the side that wants peace.

Actually you're not a female Ostrich; you're a windmill warrior: fighting windmills and mirages thinking it's the real enemy.

Short of that, it’s not going to happen. In addition, you’d be punishing the people who have nothing to do with Egypt’s admittedly rotten record on human rights.

The Iran sanctions are a good comparison, but not in the way you probably think. A nuclear Iran was a imminent danger to the Middle East and - by extension - the rest of the world. Most countries couldn’t WAIT to sanction Iran (even then, there were a lot of holes that never got plugged). The Egyptian savagery towards dissidents and inconvenient foreigners doesn’t begin to approach that same level of threat.

What about MBS and the UAE ? or you just said that the western support for these demons is not the cause of Yemen's misery ?

Iran is a terrorist regime, but the Sauds are worse and the whole world saw their butchery. But the west seems to support them !

Iran is another scapegoat you claim fighting; if the west was serious it would fight the evil Arabs before Iran because they are far more bloodthirsty.

Both are shit though. Just like those who support them.

Do you see those two men?
Exactly..keep looking at them.

Egypt didn't kill Giulio alone. It killed him because its regime knew that it will cheat any trial.

This thread is about the indictment of Egyptian security personnel for the death of Giulio Regeni. It is not about Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, MBS or Yemen. Please stick to the OP. (See how silly you sound when you do that?)

But to back up a bit, you want sanctions for Egypt to stop them killing innocent people. As support for this, you cite the Iranian sanctions. Iran just executed a journalist - Rouhollah Zam - for the non-specific charge 'corruption on earth'. So, clearly, sanctions on Iran didn't stop the sort of behaviour you want stopped in Egypt.

Perhaps you disagree with this assessment.  Perhaps you are a fool.

I didn't even say Iran is innocent. This sectarian mad regime butchered hundreds of thousands in Syria alone, my point is that just like the west enforce sanctions on it, they should also do the same with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE for their crimes which are worse than Iran's or maybe equal to it.

I am not the fool; but I am the one under the direct tyranny of these proxies; while you are resting there in the protection of the west. I am so exposed, and so are my brethren.

I cheered for the assassination of the terrorist criminal Qasim Sulaimani, but his killer is the worst hypocrite on earth too. You suck our blood to live in first world countries.

I didn't say you said Iran was innocent. My point, which you're refusing to address, is that it is inconsistent and foolish to expect sanctions on Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE to produce results they failed to produce in Iran.

While it is both rational and completely necessary to acknowledge and to expect that sanctions would cause what they have caused, not just in Iran, but literally anywhere else we've ever applied them.

If the goal is to reduce human misery, increasing human misery will not accomplish that.  If the goal is regime change, human misery absolutely will accomplish that - to whatever end.  If we wanted to see the oppressed peoples of so and so rise up to kill their government...you know that we don't need sanctions for that.  We're subject matter experts.

If that's what you want to see, if that's the focal point of this fantasy about what sanctions would do, say so.  Just flat out say that you would very much like to see the west engineer a set of circumstances in which the leaders of this or that nation are drug out into the street and dismembered, or whatever.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I always thought the West had decided that the current dictatorial military regime is better than a dictatorial Islamist regime (even if the Islamist one is initially popularly elected).

A non-secular dictator is easier to do business with and less likely to bother Israel.

Yes, this is a bit cynical, but I'm cynical about the whole region. Democracy doesn't work if the people don't believe in it. Heck, the U.S. almost lost their democracy. Theocracy and Nationalism are the enemies of Democracy.
