Atheism, Gnosticism & the Problem of Evil
#11
RE: Atheism, Gnosticism & the Problem of Evil
Well, with these sorts of statements, we have to be careful with our language.

If human evil exists, then human evil exists in nature.

I think that what you mean to say is that nature is not capable of evil in the way that people are alleged to be. That's a fairly common position regardless of a persons underlying position on the nature of the moral field or the state of the world as it relates to any standard of virtue or deficiency.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I don't deny human evil, I deny that evil exists in nature.

So humans are not part of nature?

I've made lots of money off of "natures evils".

Snake handlers make money off of natures evils. There's money to be had in dealing with evil, on some level, because we wish to avoid it entirely. It's a moral and practical imperative, lol.

It's also why we invest those characters who handle evil in our stead with reputation or honor. A somethingness that service imparts.

Nope. Think boy, you're making your money off of natures evils also. You just need to take it to the next level.

If you mean ungrateful children who can't be bothered with their parents, you might be right.

Children are one of natures chaotic evils. We get better as adults. Lawful evil.
