That's a fantastically good point, since any of a number of things that immediately precede the death of an individual often don't cause their demise. For example, Julius Caesar suffered from gout, so there's really no reason to suppose that the 44 stab wounds contributed to his death. And Abraham Lincoln likely had Marfan Syndrome which can lead to an aortic aneurysm, so the bullet in his brain was probably coincidental.

Indeed a tragic case of death by gout.

There's a 1/1000 chance it was the gout.
That's reasonable doubt.

I am unaware that gout has any chance of causing death......🤔
But people have pointed out that his family history of sudden deaths in late middle age suggest Caesar suffered from genetic predisposition to heart or circulatory disease. In combination with his vertigo, headache, and other signs of health problems, this suggest his famed epileptic attacks were actually not epilepsy at all but a series of strokes and heart attacks.
This makes it even more likely that had he not been knifed a few dozen times during the ides of March he would not have been long for the world anyway.
So Brutus exonerated!

Left untreated, gout can lead to acute kidney failure, which has a mortality rate as high as 50%.

If your friend shot a cop with gout, who then died of complications- they shot him......and you lived - you'd be charged with murder. That's just quality american jurisprudence.
The end of the culture war that looks at this and thinks he's innocent despite being factually guilty as charged...are probably just catching a glimpse of how usurious the system that cops enforce is, every other minute of every other day, that derek chauvin wasn't choking the life out of george floyd. For what it's worth, I think that the only way that a person can enforce such a system as a cop or endorse such a system as an apologist is down to being the kind of person that can never truly imagine it being used on them.
It's never that, it can't be that, because that's fucking horrible, and we don't do that.
That's halfway there, I guess.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. Looking like Chauvin wont.
Kobe Bryant's accuser Katelyn Faber wasn't on trial either, but it was fair to point out that she had sex hours after the supposed rape by Kobe, the semen of several men was in her underwear, she bragged about the encounter with Kobe to several people, her friend says that Katelyn had a plan to lure Eminem into bed to get money from him, and on and on. Maybe I'm biased because Kobe is my favourite player ever, but even if he was guilty, he still should have gotten off because of how shit she was as a human being with her supposed plans to lure Eminem out of money by accusing him of rape.
George Floyd was not an innocent bystander out for a nice day on the town. He was high off his ass on fentanyl and other drugs, and he was driving, putting people's lives at risk. No, he did not deserve to die, but he wasn't being an innocent angel that day either. We wouldn't be calling him that if he had hit and killed someone with his car as he was driving under the influence.

I take a dim view of rape apologists. I advise you not to do this again.

You do realize that applies to every single person on the planet.

It isn’t a threat. It’s a warning regarding potential reports or warnings or banning due to rules violations. Another example of that famous patience of mine.
