Winterhold, the US imprisons and basically tortures journalists and whistleblowers, and you thought they actually care about what Saudi Arabia does? They didn't even punish them for 9/11, so why would they punish them now outside of a slap on the wrist? Any punishment is simply for optics.

Now, now. Every one knows that incumbent President or Prime minister should be able to everything at once straight away. That's why they were voted in, surely?

This isn't a "he just got in office, give him some time" situation. Democrats and Republicans do not differ much in this area. I expect Biden to continue supplying authoritarian regimes with the weapons required to murder innocents, and of course assist in murdering civilians with our own drone program. Just look at Obama's record if you want a sneak peek.

As the article you linked points out, he's sanctioned more than 70 Saudi officials and cancelled an arms sale. While it's perfectly true that MBS wasn't personally hit with sanctions, the US always knew that they was never going to happen, and would have several bad outcomes if it did.

Reviewing what Biden said, no - I don't think he lied. I think he overpromised, and he certainly gave the impression during the debate that MLB himself would be punished.

Trump also sanctioned some Saudies. But isn't that the same routine for years? I mean a Saudi official does some with the help of the U.S; and only gets a "sanction" or two.

So.... you've always expected (Possibly) your officials to enact world changing policies immediately, straight off the bat?

Impressive. How's the track record for the previous three or five Blokes in meeting your expectations?

Also. You want a President to get between an American corporation's ability to make money?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

No.

Also. Not being from 'There' can you offer some information on what you've aluded to in regards to the weapons and such? I'm a tad in the dark.

Cheers.

Yeah, I think at this point you can barely even call it lying.

The disconnect between what they say to get elected and what they do is pretty much complete.

There was a case a few years ago where somebody sued the Coca Cola company over false advertising of a product called Vitamin Water. It was marketed as a healthy sports drink, but in fact it was just sugar water. Coca Cola's lawyers argued in court that no reasonable person would ever believe what Coca Cola's ads say, and they won the case.

Today I read that Trump's ex-lawyer Sidney Powell is making the same defense, concerning the lies she told about the voting machines being rigged. "Everyone should just expect what I say to be false," is something that powerful people argue now.

So technically they are saying: "if we were in your shoes;we would never believe the White House".

Because your country is intervening and sponsors so many dictators around.

"The Grand Nudger" said it once that Biden is nothing but a different beast than Trump, but he is a beast.

Unfortunately, short of rolling tanks, the practical tools of foreign policy all have serious limitations and shortcomings. You can't make a country do something except by force.

That's nice. I do like reading Nudger's posts. So how does some one elses opinion bolster your claim of in-effectually?

Why should I care about these particular monkeys when my circus has a ringtop of its own?

What would you suggest? An invasion? Assassinating MBS? Severing all ties with Saudi Arabia?

Sanctioning diplomats and holding a sale pressure ksa where it matters. We want extensive military cooperation and the use of mecca as a hostage to spread a moderate vision of islam. They want us support.

What the us wants, in sum, is more of what Winter thinks is the bad thing.... and our actions -always- reflect our interests in those things. I guess he was hoping that biden would be his president, like...you know, a president for ksa like trump was for the russian fed?
