Bad idea CDC

Also, people don't have common sense anymore like they used to. If they don't want to be vaccinated, let their ignorance ruin them. We cannot go on wearing masks, hoping that people will get smart and get vaccinated, after all.

If only the morons who refused vaccination croaked - I would be fine with that.

Unfortunately - their refusal spreads it to those people who cannot be vacconated due medical problems. (Immune suppressed).

So their stulpid ends up killing others.

Wearing a mask a bit longer isn' t going to hurt my VACCINATED ass.

RE: Bad idea CDC
I followed the rules meticulously. Now I’m vaccinated at a 95% plus efficacy.

The vaccine should be mandatory. No penalty for not doing it. Just hold people down and jab them if they’re not willing. I’m sorry to people who are immunocompromised but people who won’t get vaccinated won’t wear masks anyway. We refused to force the issue and allowed ourselves to be bullied by selfish cunts who wouldn’t follow the rules and this is the best we could do. I’m not wearing a mask because I’m not going to get or spread the virus because I’m vaccinated.

If there’s a next time, we need to enforce the lockdowns with extremely severe penalties so the virus can’t find new hosts to replicate in.

Simple fact: A virus needs a host and I never gave it one. I did my part.

I disagree that this is a bad idea.

One area where there can be enforcement of mask policy is the workplace. My employer (an electronics manufacturer) has religiously followed CDC guidelines for the duration of the pandemic. Now, they can relieve the vaccinated employees of the requirement to wear a mask while the idiots will still have to wear them. It's good incentive to get vaccinated.

Yeah, I know: Not dyeing from Covid 19 is better incentive but these people are not logical thinkers. I think this stands a good chance of encouraging many of the holdouts to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated.

Of course, the antivaxxers are the sort of people who thought getting a vaccine (or two, depending on the type of vaccine) was a greater inconvenience than the death of half a million Americans.

Honestly, I suspect that the CDC's advice hinges on the assumption that enough Americans are going to take the vaccine that we reach herd immunity. And I don't think that's going to happen.

More importantly, every antivaxxer who won't get their kids immunized increases the risks to those who medically can't be immunized.

If you're not sure whether an unmasked person is vaccinated, just ask them who won the election.

Since the vaccine is less effective in transplant patients, I kind of have to do that, actually

We may not reach herd immunity - and it's obviously the case that peoples attitudes toward vaccination effect people other than themselves.  To put a pin in something I think is important...the trumpets are just flirting with the idea.  They weren't antivaxxers before and won't be antivaxxers in future.  I bring up antivaxxers as in the real deal.  The people whose attitudes toward vaccination aren't a temporary effect of having lost their minds to trumpism.  We didn't abandon those guys, before - and I can't see us doing that now, to trumpets.

That might mean masks forever, as a relatively docile measure.  It can go another direction, and almost certainly would, in the worst case scenario.   Exclusion, quarantine.

Because we're fucking idiots, the virus is never going away. Which REALLY SUPER pisses me off.
I'm wearing a mask for the foreseeable future. Maybe forever.
