What Gives You Peace....

What Gives You Peace....
...Over the years, I've always pondered the fact that there is virtually no "peace" here, and in most other
atheistic (w/no mention of God allowed) forums.

My [serious] questions, if you are so inclined to answer them:

1. Do you require any inner peace to function in life?

2. Where do you find your peace, if you require it?

3. Do you feel that it is a virtue, or just a state of nature(i.e. calm weather, no war, no one bothering you...like me! lol)

I'll make my points after I've had some feedback. This has been a longtime curiosity as to
our divide. Not only here but with; family, friends & acquaintances who are atheists.

Thanks for your input! R

By ignoring the rantings of madmen who claim to be pals with a nefarious sky king who created reality.

It just makes me giddy with joy and mirth..

1. IDK if it is a "requirement" for everybody, but I require some modicum peace to handle the life's challenges.

Quote:2. Where do you find your peace, if you require it?

2. Solitude, and deep contemplation. Reading really deep thoughts from deep thinkers. Sometimes yoga and meditation.

Yes. I think Spinoza said it best: "Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice."

I love the quote so much, I put it on my profile page.

Btw, you can tag threads as serious if you want.

1) Life is full of turmoil. Any time I can sit and enjoy just being with zero demands of any outside entities it is welcomed.

II) Smokin' tunes, cool waves, primo shrooms

C) A simple byproduct of the evolution of the human psyche.

1. Yes.

2. Good books, good friends, good food.

3. Neither. It is a biological necessity.

1. Yeah, I think so. I try not to act or make decisions in life without it, and a lot of it.

2. Everywhere, literally everywhere. All the usual stereotypically peaceful places and situations and thoughts - but also in the underlying rhythm of a pavement miller devouring tarmac with flights on the adjacent run. It would probably be easier to compile a list of things that I -can’t- find some peace in.

3. IDK, and it’s a pregnant sort of question...but, both? A virtuous state of affairs, perhaps?

I have a question. If you derive peace from your faith, is it more likely that others who don’t share that faith have no peace, or that you...with a particular view of peace, just don’t see it where they do and so imagine that it is you and your fellows sole possession. That this peace is a tangible item on religious offer, with no competing providers?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
