The "you don't even have to think about it" crowd are acting like experts just as much. Everyone who's saying the vaccines are completely safe, are lying. We know nothing about the long term effects at the moment. The sticky spike protein in the vax is potentially dangerous, and it's entirely rational for a young person with no health conditions to choose not to get it. People like Sam Harris are bringing doctors onto their shows to shit talk people who won't get the vaccine and to shit talk people like Bret Weinstein, but Sam Harris most recently brought on a very compromised doctor who was just putting down the lab leak theory. A compromised doctor who has been very wrong just recently, so why the heck would any vaccine hesitant person listen to someone like him who keeps getting it wrong?

I finally got the vax a couple of days ago. I thought it made sense to wait a while to do more research and take in more information. I didn't see any need to rush into a decision. No side effects for me over the last couple of days. I do not endorse the vax for other people though. Everyone should make their own decision after doing research. I have asthma though, so I finally decided to take the poison because of that.

You are WRONG about ALL OF THIS. 
We DO know a lot about the safety of the vaccine and the long term effects at the moment. Do you have any understanding about how vaccines are developed and tested normally? Your statements here tell me that the only understanding you have of it you learned from Tucker Carlson. There are a LOT of data before Covid surrounding mRNA and traditional vaccines and the adjuvants and ingredients therein. LOOK IT UP BEFORE YOU SPREAD THIS BULLSHIT. 

The sticky spike protein in the vaccine is NOT dangerous and there is no reason to believe it is dangerous on its own. WHY do you think it's potentially dangerous? Its ONLY purpose in the J&J vaccine is to serve as the antigen, the map for antibody production. This protein is not in the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. It contains the mRNA that allows YOU to make copies the spike protein. This same phenomenon occurs for every single thing your immune cells encounter. 

It is not rational to believe the LIES the talking heads tell you over WHAT THE MOTHER FUCKING SCIENTISTS ARE TELLING YOU!!!!! YES I AM FUCKING YELLING. Because this BULLSHIT makes me FUCKING MAD. People are fucking dying of this virus by the MILLIONS and this virus would be more under control if it weren't for these abject lies. 

"Every rational young person" knows that the vaccine safe based on very real and now plentiful data. There is absolutely no reason to not get the vaccine unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

I do not get my information from Tucker Carlson. I get much of my covid info from biologists Bret Weinstein and his lovely wife Heather Heying, along with the doctors/ virologists/ etc they bring onto their show. They have a lot of credibility built up with me because they have been early on most things concerning SARS-Cov-2. They were at the forefront of the lab leak hypothesis while other scientists were making fools of themselves and acting as political agents by calling it almost impossible and the like. If a scientist is compromised and is more likely to give a politically favourable answer, like Faucci for example, why would I put my trust in any of them? I've been listening to scientists all along. Just not the scientists you'd like me to be listening to.

I'm sorry to say but your post is anti-scientific. "Trust The Science" is a BS slogan. It should not be about trusting the science. It should be about trusting the scientific process. Scientists consider the lab-leak hypothesis to still be plausible.  They have always considered natural origin more likely, but we will likely never know.

And how do you assess the probability of each?  I don't know, and I doubt you do either. 

The arguments I've seen make both possible.  If precursor viruses were found in animals, it might rule out the lab idea, but so far none have been found.  This is truly a novel virus with two major genetic modifications that make it perfect for creating a human pandemic.  A virus with only one of those modifications must be prevalent in animals that live around humans for this to happen naturally.  They haven't found it.  Of course, China claims this means the virus didn't even come from China -- but it is also a possibility that it could be created by gain-of-function research.

Did The Wuhan Lab even do this research?  If no, then the lab theory is bunk, leak or not.  Why can't China let people investigate?  I can think of 3 reasons -- pride, they do other shady stuff they don't want known, or they know its the source.

I'm not aware of any recent scientist that has come out and said the lab-leak is impossible.  I haven't even heard them say "highly unlikely".  I've only heard that most continue to think the natural origin is more likely - but who knows until more viral evidence is found.
