Stupid things religious people say
RE: Stupid things religious people say
A local evangelical preacher (Baptist) disrupted my favorite coffee shop yesterday demanding why the owners allowed a drag event (they hadn't, but were thinking about having one) there--he ranted and raved and "blessed" the room. My special rural hell. (I wasn't there when it happened).

I would love to be somewhere that happens.

I've shut down a couple of people who tried evangelising to people.

Once on a train on a Friday night, and once in a restaurant when domr prick insisted everyone thank god for their food.

I can see it now, "Thank Vishnu for this tender steak!"...if he was lucky.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I don't believe in things I can't detect 😁

A christian once used the argument “Can you see wind?” I think he was in his thirties. It demonstrates that their thought processes are not fully developed.
They can develop it if they have contact with a scientist or equivalent.

1. Air is a mixture of nitrogen and other gases and gases tend to be transparent to visible light. You can just change the state to liquid by lowering the temperature. Very few gases are colored. Bromine gas, iodine gas, chlorine, fluorine, NO2 are examples of gases that interact with visible light.
Oxygen interacts weekly with blue light (the sky is blue).
2. Wind is just the flow of these gases. You can have flow in liquids as well. You can have flow with solids using pressure.

Not believing in atoms and molecules was normal in the early 18xx. I think it was in the later part of 18xx that most of scientists began accepting it since they were able to see patterns in chemical formula.

Atoms have been seen since the invention of the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Scanning and Tunneling Electron Microscope (STEM)

Germanium atoms

There is a lot more that I can’t see.
I can’t see the Earth’s core. I can’t see that it is mostly composed of iron.
I can’t see Japan.
I can’t see about 7 billion other humans.
I can’t see names, words, languages, software, feelings, music, stories. These are all non physical things.

Cars and coaches clog Trevignano Romano near Rome on the third day of every month when the statue’s owner, Gisella Cardia, appears to enter a state of ecstasy and takes down dictation in a notebook, allegedly from Mary herself.

On Friday a crowd of 600, including pilgrims from Poland, looked on as Cardia revealed Mary had told her to “avoid being tempted by Satan” because a “serious war is coming”.

The woman is a fraud. I know, what a shock!

Maria Giuseppe Scarpulla investigated after claim blood stains on statue of Virgin Mary come from a pig

A woman nicknamed “the Saint” has mysteriously vanished from a small lakeside town near Rome where pilgrims have flocked for years to pray before a statue of the Virgin Mary that she claimed shed tears of blood.

Maria Giuseppe Scarpulla, known to her followers as Gisella Cardia, originally from Sicily, and her husband reportedly fled Trevignano Romano last week after a private investigator triggered a judicial investigation against her based on his alleged finding that the blood stains on the statue came from a pig.

Scarpulla, who in the past had been convicted of bankruptcy fraud, created a foundation through which she collected donations, which she reportedly said would go towards setting up a centre for sick children.

That old Boogeyman of Abrahamic religions: SEX! People are having sex outside of marriage! AAAAA!!!! And thus the world is falling apart.

And this is bullshit I've heard from the Pope as well: they think there is some propaganda pressed on people to have joyful sex "It all started in the 1960s when people were told they are allowed to have sex out of wedlock and the whole hell broke loose"
