Setting up TV remotes, a "Kill me" event.

Maybe the remote is trying to tell you something:  learn new things; get some new shtick.

Or maybe life isn't always about speed? Apollo 13 didn't get back because of speed, or flying by the seat of their pants. They got back  because of training and redundancy.

If you want to argue the Cheetah is faster than the Galapagos Tortoise, you'd be correct. But the average life of the Cheetah is 20 years vs over a century of the Tortoise.

Point is, just because you can do something, doesn't mean it is always right.

I said nothing about speed.  I said you need to learn new things and stop talking about the same old things.  You also need to avoid meaningless generalizations that help you remain comfortable with self-imposed limitations, mind forged manacles, if you will.

In what context is knowing how to programme a TV remote wrong?

Have you thought of putting batteries in it? Or is it too early for a cab ride to Walmart?

Actually the reason I am posted this was precisely because I wanted to spend 10 billon dollars needlessly calling a cab to buy new batteries in the middle of the night.

But it turned out, it was not me, my cable feed had a glitch on their end. The glitch happened in the middle of the night. I initially thought I was late on my bill. Called them up, they said no. But I explained to the tech that my remote suddenly didn't work fully. Two separate calls and walk throughs neither tech could figure out why. Next morning after ordering a new remote, my old remote suddenly started working fully, and yes, I switched out the batteries overnight.  And no, I did not call a cab to go to Walmart. Usually if there is an outage on their end, there is a recorded message explaining maintenance issues as per local. But I live in a huge county.  I think the issue never filtered down to the techs I spoke with.

Next time my remote/cable goes out, say outside a thunderstorm or hurricane, I am not going to chalk it up to me or weather. batteries and Walmart be damned.

Shot version: you put fresh batteries in your remote and it started working properly. Maybe try that first next time?

Um no. This time I put fresh batteries in my remote and it still did not operate fully. Did you not read my prior post. My cable company is famous for having glitches. I've had other times where I knew it was them and not me. Even after putting new batteries in this last time, my remote would not change channels the way it normally does. Next morning it started working properly. The problem was not me, the problem was on their end.

This time it was them, not me. Again, normally if there is a outage issue, when you call in, you get a recording telling you which area's are impacted. The problem this time is because someone did not consider the width of that impact, so my techs whom I called were unaware of the totality of the zone.

The reality was there was nothing wrong with my remote.

Ah, that wasn’t clear in your earlier post. Thanks for sorting it out.
