If I go around spouting off any old crap I want and no one challenges me, then its me who's getting hurt because I believe I know something when in fact I'm ignorant.  I'll go on to say that if you truly feel that you don't need guidance from others, then you truly are delusional.

Delusional? Nah, you're jst nt smrt. You don't have the skill to elucidate whatever worldview you hold..and generously, no criticism based on your mushmouth here really sticks to your internally held worldview, which you are incapable of lucidly and accurately expressing.

I could spend the rest of my life trying to find out what's "true", and probably never even find out, or I could simply believe whatever I want and be happy. Really tough choice.

You could, but it probably wouldn't take the rest of your life to learn how to accurately communicate what you already believe is true. I've watched people like yourself fail to avail themselves of that opportunity, here on these boards, for a decade.

A good approximation of truth is definitely better than a delusion. A false belief can put you into conflict with reality, destroying all the happiness that you had previously gained from it.

The kicker here is that it's completely irrelevant whether or not Ahri spends his life figuring out what the truth is - already believes many things which cannot be true by reference to each other. It takes no extra time to figure that out.

That, for example, god is good because it answers his prayers and believing as much even if it weren't true makes him feel good..but... also that god certainly isn't benevolent because it doesn't answer every prayer and for those people, believing makes them feel like unworthy shit. A position which he seconds, talking about the rights of those people, ignoring his similarly deficient position with regards to the same.

You're not arguing with me, in this response, at all. You're acknowledging that if god curbstomps a child to give you the lollipop you prayed for, you'd call it good...

That implies that you know it might not be good for other people. Or..you know..just good. I don't think that you're speaking authoritatively about what people deserve. Just because you have some asshole boyfriend who's ...sometimes.... good™..... to you, that doesn't mean that this asshole being an asshole to other people means that they deserve it...or don't deserve better. Hell, it doesn't even mean that -you- don't deserve better.

But that's all academic, since it's not what you actually believe, is it? Am I saying anything that you aren't already aware of?
