One of the benefits of being an aussie is that you grow up on American AND British tv.
Never could get into the good doctor though. The quality of the foam props was underpar compared to ST TOS.

You do realise that the people who made those props were very skilled craftsmen, a number of whom went on to win major awards, using for the most part what was, for the time, state of the art materials and techniques? To hear some people talk, it was all thrown together out of bits found in a skip by amateurs who couldn't make the grade to present Blue Peter.

I didn't get it at first and thought it was stupid.
Then I got it and had a great laugh. :-) 
I don't know whether you are aware, but this is not just a joke. The argument from embarrassment or what it is called is a real argument defenders of the historical Jesus employ. Carrier addresses it in some detail in "Not the impossible faith"
