1. Who do they sue? I doubt either of those groups have a list of all members. How can the plaintiff (DC) identify who is to respond? If you CAN prove that a person is a member - how can that person get a fair trial? Are all respondants entitled to their own lawyer???

2. Do you think this kind of monkeyfuck is a good idea??? Will you still think it' s a good idea when " the other side" uses the same tactic? Because - they will.

I wonder if Portland, Seattle and all the other cities that suffered damage and deaths (and there was more than DC) will sue BLM and ANTIFA into oblivion???

1) The Promise Keepers and Proud Boys have an organizational structure, and they have leadership that can be held accountable for the crimes they committed. It's not like this is the first time an organization instead of a person has been sued. And I suspect that they're going to focus more on the leadership that masterminded (if such a word can apply to such orgs) the crimes so it doesn't end up like this:




2) It's not like this sort of shit is unprecedented. The government has sued hate groups before, and has even been successful in breaking them up before. In the aftermath of the lynching of Michael Donald, a civil lawsuit was brought against the United Klans of America (the group that the attackers in question belonged to), one of their leaders, and about 50 other Klansmen (unnamed like in this complaint.) The Klans lost. I wouldn't particularly like it if the city of Portland sued BLM or Antifa (especially since, IIRC, BLM's protests have been non-violent by a stupefyingly large margin; the few that included violence had a limited level of violence, suggesting lone wolves and not BLM egging them on; BLM doesn't advocate for violence; and, oh, yeah, unlike the Proud Boys, the Promise Keepers, and BLM, Antifa has no organizational structure that can be used in a lawsuit, suggesting that they'd need to use another tack with them), but I don't think that this case would be a worrisome precedent. Any precedent to be worried about in this case would have happened before I was even born.

It has been said that if one goes far enough to the "right" politically, you start to emerge on the Left.  If they would only shave their legs, don some dark glasses, ditch the socks and grow out their hair, they would like nice, at least in my opinion!
