It's good to know some people think it's most beneficial to roll over for the dictator.

China has the Uyghurs in concentration camps. What are we going to do about it? What are we going to do about China's hold on Taiwan? Should we stop trade with China over this? What say you? We depend on China, so you can't really say yes to that.. but.. dictator. North Korea is a hellscape with millions starving. What to do?  Sometimes dictators just win. Especially when it comes to superpowers. If China takes over a little piece of land, do we physically go to war with China just to show that dictators can't get away with stuff because.. American exceptionalism and we're justified in being the world police? Or should we think very carefully first before getting into that fight? The US sells weapons and is a top ally to Saudi Arabia who sponsor terrorism and beheads people for being atheists or protesting or disturbing the fabric of society as they call it. Saudi literally funded the 9/11 hijackers and Saudi cuts up journalists who were living in the America with hacksaws. Like Boru pointed out, wars are geopolitical. The "official reason" from the mainstream media is always some bullocks that just doesn't compute with reality.

The Ukrainians are doing the dirty work of the Americans. The Ukrainians are the ones dying by the tens of thousands, and I don't like to see that.

It's almost as if you believe that America foisted this war upon two uninterested parties who were powerless to resist American whimsy. How bizarre.

Of course Chomsky is biased. We all are. I have many extreme disagreements with Chomsky, but I think he was mostly good in this interview.

There's enough knee-jerk to his statements that I don't pay much mind to him, even when I agree with him.

The United States is funding the war to the tune of billions of dollars, so therefore it is America's war, yes. Without that funding, the war likely would have been over and Ukraine would have made peace.

And now you're engaging in whataboutism and saying we should bend over to China and let the stomp on another sovereign nation.

Nope it's Ukraine and Russia's war where America is just playing a supporting role and by peace you mean Ukraine would be conquered by Russia. That's not peace. America has allowed Ukraine to keep what belongs to it and has seen that Putin pays a price for his reckless belligerence.

It's not whataboutism. I posted that to debunk the hardline and naive stance Tomato seemed to be pushing that we can't let bad people get away with bad things in the world. Would anyone really suggest stopping trade with China because of the Uyghur and Taiwan situations? By trading with China, we are giving them a pass for having concentration camps. The US doesn't seem to care much about those concentration camps. And pointing out Saudi Arabia to Tomato proves the point that the US is AOK with dictators, as long as it's their dictator, so yeah, this is not about 'standing up to a bully' because we're so moral and just. It's about geopolitics.

No, you are engaging in whataboutism. Saying that because we don't solve every evil on earth means we should never stop any evil in the world and is whataboutism as it merely distracts away from the point, And no this is a moral war and a just war and in it we are moral and justified regardless of anything happening elsewhere.

Perhaps you should actually check the us stance on those concentration camps? End of the day, though, what do you suggest we do to prove we care? Invade China? Maybe that’s the ticket in Ukraine too, right? Rather than fight a proxy war, just be heroes and occupy. That would surely calm your fears about nuclear Sabre rattling….right…….right….?
