Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
Exactly so. The nutbar take is right, and if it’s wrong, that only proves how right it is.

So, let’s say the us and every other country supporting Ukraine suddenly decides to do the right thing as you see it. Supplies and assistance to Kiev cease. What’s step two?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The US says they care about it, so therefore they care about it.. allegedly.. and you call this "fact" lmao. That's your standard of proof? Someone says something so therefore it's true?

Cool story. So what’s step 2? The Russo Ukrainian war started in 2014. Western aid has been a thing for a couple of months. That stops. Then what?

Better than your standard which is cynically assuming the worst based on the fact America doesn't conflate a country's domestic issues with a reason to sell them weapons in a foreign war. Which would exclude any nation from trading with any other nation.

Do they, though? I mean, that does seem to be the implication, even if it’s not true, but if that is the idea then we ought to be able to say so plainly when we advocate for it.

What Ukraine should do is get crushed, for the greater good of (checks notes)…western interests as reflected by Noam and a Canadian Frozen Peach enthusiast?

Let nature take its' course I suppose and let them settle it how they choose to settle it.

And yes, I'm sure that if the US government had a magic wand, they would magic away the Muslim internment camps in China and they would make China more like the US and Europe. So what? That's really irrelevant, because no such magic wand exists. The US is glad to continue selling Saudi Arabia weapons knowing about the Saudi's genocide in Yemen and beheading of protestors and other so called trouble makers. Business trumps all. If an American criminal is selling illegal weapons to a white nationalist terrorist group in the US and he knows they plan on using them in a terrorist attack, but chooses to look away and sell the weapons to them anyways because the seller needs to feed his family and keep a roof over their head and maintain his wife's rich lifestyle, does it really matter if on the stand he says he would have preferred that the group did not commit a terrorist attack with the guns? He still sold them the weapons knowing the white nationalist group was going to do the terrorist attack, so he is complicit. I was never claiming that the US should do anything about the Chinese internment camps. I was just pointing out to Tomato that letting bad guys get away with bad things is kind of just how the world works much of the time, and the dictator talking point is dependent on whether that dictator is an ally with the US or not. Our dictators that we ally with and benefit off of are AOK. The other guys, not so much.

But...But... No one should ever trade with a nation with bad domestic policies. Or stop a country from invading another country "Because that's just the way it works" ...... Dodgy

Remember this is from the same person who thinks countries should just accept terrorism.... Dodgy

My post before said no one would suggest we stop trade with China. That no one includes me. Like I said, business is business, and in this global economy we all need China and China needs us.

And what do you mean stop a country from invading another country? The US didn't stop the invasion, because they know that a direct attack on Russia is a no go from the start, because they know better.
