Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
News today was reporting that US intel reports dissension in Russian leadership and that Putin has not been fed accurate info.

I'm short on time right now but will link support today or tomorrow insofar as I can find reputable sources.

Is it because their tanks are bogging down in the mud? Is it because they’re running out of tank fuel? It it because they’re running out of tanks? Is it a good idea use these when they can be disabled by a simple hunting rifle? Doesn’t this argue against Russia holding its premier equipment in reserve?

I get a rather humorous vision of someone driving around with a machine gun mounted on top of a car like my Buick Encore.  Have to admit I wouldn't be expecting an old broad in a Buick would be a military threat.

I am very much enjoying the info on this thread...Thump and Nudger have real life experience with this sort of thing and I am fascinated!

My military days were spent in communications...even if I was trained for a combat environment it basically meant I would be working comm in a specially rigged vehicle...probably not a Buick.

Maybe the Russians are doing it because the Ukrainian vehicles have reliable GPS and the Russian ones don't.

Okay, maybe not.

I’ve been doing some reading about these things, and it seems like they’ve been used with a fair degree of frequency in quite a few conflicts. But it still seems strange (if unsurprising) that Russia, with its aspirations to be a Great Power, has suffered such extensive equipment losses (per Nudger’s very informative post) that it’s been brought to the ‘make do’ stage.

I agree completely about the info here. Im learning a lot.

That's how they getya!  I've never personally seen a sedan converted - but I have seen how much explosive material can be packed into their panels.  It's no joke.  You spend all day looking out for trucks with a belt gun bolted onto a rollbar.....but that fucking skoda right in front of you?

Okay, maybe not.

The Russians might not be doing it at all if the Ukrainians didn’t keep breaking their stuff.

They'll be reduced to thumbing for rides shortly, if they keep losing equipment like this.

I hear Putin's drafting 100K+ to prop up the war.
