Unfortunately this advice is way too late for you, so keep waving your idiocy around like it is a badge of honour. It's funny at least.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

You might make a judgment call as to whether a person was wise or not, but you'd have to be wise to do so. I suspect we all agree that punishment is justifiable in some cases. Wisdom is here the important term, because getting the balance right between justice and mercy may be extremely difficult. And of course just because punishment is justified doesn't mean that a person enjoys meting it out. The question on the thread is whether anyone would like to punish people for being religious. It seems to me that if words calculated to make a person feel bad count as punishment, then there are some people who are more than willing to punish people for being religious. Sure are, and the crushing majority of those people are also religious - but it's an interesting question. Is the scourge of people..religious and irreligious, saying mean things about the shitty behavior religious people blame on their religions ever going to be addressed? Wont anyone think of the poor rapists and mutilators fee fees?

Hmmmmm.... so, you've got no way to tell if some one or some 'Thing'(Words, concepts etc) actually is/are 'Wise'? That seems to be a tad problematic. You then wax lyrical about something I've already answered with a 'No'. Frankly I'm nonplussed as to your reply. |
