You' d rather he go find children to shoot??

In every scenario you people cook up - a whacked out teenager is omnipotent and no adult can stop them even if armed with seni- auto rifles.....

It really looks like you don' t want any solution....

Well, adults with guns can CLEARLY stop teens with guns - we know because it happens (of course, it tends to happen only after the body count is unconscionably high).

Since you’re clearly done guessing, consider this:

Jimmy goes to the school armed with just a pistol. He kills one person and takes a roomful of kids hostages (in the room where the gun safe is). He demands that the gun safe be opened or he’ll kill one child every five minutes.

I can only see two ways this plays out:

1. Someone at the school, hoping against hope to save the lives of the hostages, opens the safe. Jimmy now has an AR-15 along with extra magazines and a good supply of ammo. Carnage ensues.

2. No one accedes to Jimmy’s demand and he makes good on his threat to start killing children. The cops arrive after Jimmy has killed several kids and shoot and kill Jimmy (who is now out of ammo).

Now, explain to me how an AR-15 locked in a safe was any help to the police.

Boru

You watch too much TV.

Your whole scenario is asinine.

If the kid has a pistol - he doesn' t NEED a rifle to kill kids - he can just start merrilly whacking kids at his leisure because he' s the only one with a gun. What part of that escapes you?

Do you think an AR15 will get a 12 year old deader than a Glock 19????

You are playing Mystery Theater 2022 - making up goofy scenarios that back your ideas.

So what is going to happen if a monster comes in with ANYTHING - pistol- shotgun - rifle - peepee inducing scary black rifle -- and starts shooting kids in classrooms and NOBODY ELSE had a weapon or has access to a weapon???

Gee - that's what USUALLY happens.... And the usual result is a bunch of dead kids --- because YOU WERE UNCOMFORTABLE with the idea of staff( trained even) having access to a weapon.....

Perhaps we need more "Gun Free Zone" signs...

That always works.....

Never mind those armed men with badges at schools.

It probably shouldn’t be controversial to posit that the more guns are at a given school the less safe it is. What’s the point of the metal detectors, otherwise?

Those armed men with badges at the schools have proven unreliable - and that' s exactly who you want everyone to depend on.

The point of metal detectors is a losing attempt to keep guns away from minors. If a kid with a gun wants into the school - he just shoots his way in. Got a rent a cop with a gun? He takes first bullet.

You make gun free zones - monsters with guns will go there to kill for sport.

Adding more guns to the mix in order to deal with the gun problem isn't a solution.

I do t know how you manage to confuse me for someone else so often. I guess it’s the paranoid impulse. I’m not a person who thinks that people should depend on our cops. You make a great point, though…even as you acknowledge your last was pure unfiltered bullshit. It’s not that people are getting shot in gun free zones or with no one around who has a gun. They get shot even when there are. It’s just how guns work. They’re not force fields.

I’m unconcerned with what happens in your lunatic fantasies. When the shadowy they you see in every other person comes for your precious. I doubt the anti gun folks give a shit either. The one thing we both agree on is that we need to solve the problem in our schools. Not the problem in your head. That shits on you.

As opposed to those good guys with guns who virtually never manifest

Same with any other armed person in building

There is fuck all evidence that gun-free zones attract shooters just as there is no evidence guns act as a deterrent outside stupid memes.... Dodgy

Shooters target places of either personnel significance or places where there will be the most shock value the presence or absence of a gun makes no difference as they intend to die anyway. Nor is there any reason to think a group of armed people would react fast enough to stop the rampage.

Solving gun violence with more guns is like solving obesity with more sugar.

Jaysus, it's like you don't even read the things I post. In that scenario, the shooter IS the only one with access to a firearm.

Plenty of school shooters didn't 'shoot their way in' - they brought a gun to school in a backpack.

Again: What use is an AR15 in a school safe if the shooter denies access to it?

Also once again why arming teachers would even trained ones would never work. It's not a question of comfort it's a question of infeasibility. Just like relying on all those "good guys" with guns.

Yup the "gun free  zone " myth never gets old along with " they don't shoot up gun shows nonesense"

Shooters don't care if guns are present as most of the time they are trying to get killed. They care about striking a target that will cause the most impact or a place they have some history with. Nor is there any reasonable assumption that the "good guys with guns" would have enough time to stop a rampage of an active shooter.
