THE Gun Thread
RE: THE Gun Thread
Bullshit

This has nothing to do with party affiliation. Republicans don't give a fuck about school shootings all their bluster after one is PR . School shootings to them are just the price that needs to be paid to keep their toys and placate their lobbyists. Their solutions are all half-baked at best because they know their base is never going to make them implement them. Dems aren't great but at least they give the slightest fuck and realize this isn't normal and that there is a deep sickness in America's gun culture. So this both sideism is utter BS.

The right does not enjoy seeing the senseless killing any more than the left. ( you think all the victims were wearing gang colors - red and blue - for the shooter to only cap leftist' s kids?) You are a dishonest ass for saying they do.

What IS different is their strategies for solving the problem.

He’ll correct me if I’m wrong, but I really don’t think that’s what Thump was saying at all. It struck me as more of an observation that lobbying and donations by gun rights groups (not gun owners) are creating a resistance to gun legislation reform in Congress.

I agree that people on right don’t ‘enjoy’ senseless killings. They do, however, give every indication that they simply don’t care.

Additionally, it’s important to remember that the right enjoyed years and years of a congressional majority. If they had strategies for solving the problem, why didn’t they implement them when they had the chance?

Yup and there is no contradiction in that statement. It is mostly the Republicans' lack of giving a fuck that's the cause. That's not partisan that's just a fact. One doesn't have to have a party affiliation to see their near-total apathy on the subject of mass shootings. Aside from "thoughts and prayers" given at press meetings.

Because he constantly tried playing nice with Republicans and they constantly pushed him around. Joe Biden is pretty much the same. Both live under the Liberal delusion the Right wants to play nice.

The right has no strategy at all other than keep those donations rolling in. You wishing to play the useful dupe, well, that's on you. But the McConnells of the world who refuse to allow anything at all to address this problem unique to America is precisely because they're beholden to $$$.

I'm all for 2A rights; I'm on record as such here and have posted several suggestions here and at AF which I know you've read to both preserve those rights while at the same time reducing these bloody affairs. So you know that you're misstating my position, which means you're being dishonest. I appreciate the intel, and will keep it in mind in any future interactions we have, which will be few because I don't like liars.

By the way, I'm a centrist independent, so your wishing to taint me with partisan intent only demonstrates the fact that you're comfortable speaking out of ignorance. Next time learn about the person before pigeonholing them.

RE: THE Gun Thread
The eternal issue with Dems is they are spineless and are willing to capitulate to Republicans on pretty anything to look Bi-Partisan and to Virtue Signal and many in the senior positions have not clued in they are not dealing with people who want to play nice or care I they end up looking like sociopaths. The Republicans are excellent at getting awful spite-based laws passed and the Dems are awful at getting actual laws passed.

They’ve successfully turned “shootings happen because there aren’t enough guns” from what was once a fringe talking point meant to soak up media attention into the actual belief of the majority of the party.

We’re speaking different languages now. There is no bipartisan solution.

It is my firm conviction that the GOP and Conservatism is not a solution, they are in fact THE problem. Wrapped into one package, it is irrational and an obstacle to rational solutions to our problems and a danger to American democracy. There will be no problems solved and no advancement within our society so long as it continues to exist and is allowed to exist. If an obstacle and a threat cannot be avoided or if one cannot go around, above or through an obstacle, then that obstacle must be destroyed.

Do not expect any sane rational gun control solution to be made into law, so long as there is one Conservative Republican that is allowed to roam free in Congress, Washington, D.C., and America. What is one more child murdered to them? That does not register with them.
