What do mean "y'all?"  And what is this understanding?

1) While not necessary, the atomic bombings are arguably justifiable from a military perspective -- the atomic bombings killed about 150,000 immediately, whereas had the invasion gone forward, at least five times that number would have died on both the Japanese and American sides.

Additionally, the submarine blockade and subsequent aerial mining of ports and interisland shipping lanes was projected to bring on a famine that would have cost millions of lives. In a sense it's a real-world example of the Trolley Problem. In both cases, the bombings probably saved more Japanese lives than they took.

And of course the Allies, who excoriated Nazi Germany for the terror-bombing of Britain, Yugoslavia, and others, turned to the same weapon in both ETO and PTO, and were therefore indeed hypocritical morally, even if they were pragmatic militarily.

2) Hitler loved his dog, sure, but that little bit of good, even added up with the other little bits of good he may have had in him, do not outweigh the massive evils his henchmen, armies, or the bureaucrats running the Endlosung perpetrated under his orders, or the Einsatzgruppen, or the foisting of war upon peoples across the world.

3) Whether Kanye West is a troll, a mentally-ill person, or a True Believer™, he's a fucking idiot.

Telling your enemy you're going to commit a war crime before you commit it doesn't really change a whole lot lol, at least if we're talking about this from the ethics perspective. It is ultimately the responsibility of the US, the nation that dropped the bombs.

It wasn’t a war crime - both cities were legitimate military targets, the presence of civilians in those cities notwithstanding. And the US didn’t tell the Japanese government what they were going to do, they gave them a path to avoid it. Looking at it from the ethics perspective, the Japanese government green-lit the killing of over 100 000 of its own people.

Are seriously comparing Truman's attempt at employing the least causality-heavy solution to the war to Kanye spreading antisemitic conspiracies and praising fucking Hitler.

Indeed they were given a path to surrender and they didn't take it the other option was a lengthy invasion of Japan that would have killed far more people. As for the Lusitania, that's on Germany for enacting unrestricted submarine warfare in the first place. Also Japan has no business complaining about bombing civilians as they did the same thing in Nanking and the Japanese were developing Atomic weapons to use against the Allies just like the Germans were.

Huggy compares Truman a guy who simply wanted to avoid a more causality-heavy war by pressuring an ethno- fascist state that had started the war and had enacted countless war crimes to Adolf Hitler a guy who wanted to exterminate anyone who didn't meet his ethnic nationalist idea's.

Quote:The Nazis learned their ideology about genocide from the eugenics movement that was happening in America, of which one Margaret Sanger was part of, who advocated for the abortions of babies of the "undesirables", how is she any different from Hitler?, keep the same energy.
Yeah, the Nazis learn didn't learn dick from the eugenics movement in America. Eugenics was already popular in Europe and had been for years and eugenics programs had already been done in Germany as early as 1885. Margaret Sanger was sidelined by the eugenics movement early on and she never advocated for Abortion to be used as means of getting rid of the mentally or physically infirm let alone whole races. She did advocate for sterilization of the mentally and physically infirm but that was already a widely held belief in her time and hardly amounts to the "same energy" as Hitler who wanted to exterminate whole races and classes of people via the gas chamber and forced interbreeding.

It's like arguing with my dad about about John Lennon and politics.  "But you have to admit, he made some great songs."  Except Kanye didn't.

Quote:Luz Long, a Nazi that competed against Owens, was the first to congratulate Owens and later walked around the stadium, arm-in-arm with Owens and posed together for pictures.
Luz Long was never a member of the Nazi party nor did he express any overt fascist sympathies and Nazi officials and Hitler hated the Fact that Long tried to befriend Owen. So this is wrong. Hell Hitler himself said

“The Americans should be ashamed of themselves, letting Negroes win their medals for them. I shall not shake hands with this Negro" —Hitler

Quote:How are the founding Fathers any different than Hitler? keep the same energy.
The founding fathers for all their faults never tried to become absolute dictators nor did they attempt to take over the world and exterminate all other races.

The fact you're trying to compare anyone else to Adolf Hitler is hilarious
