Last night, the demented former president Trump was talking about Kim Jong Un being the leader of China.

Polls a year out from an election don't mean a helluva lot. At this point in 2011, Obama was lagging behind Romney and had a job approval rating of under 50%. While being mindful of the investor's caveat, this is nothing to get in a twist about.

If anyone is really concerned that Trump is unbeatable, the thing to do is to work at getting Democrats elected in the House and Senate.

The polls in the last election were quite flawed ... I suspect they are now also. 
Supposedly polling is a science, ... I'm not so sure at this point, due to issues with "availability", in the sense of "how" the polls are contacting their 
subjects. I never answer our phone unless I know who is calling, and most of the time, I'm not willing to be interrupted when I doing something. 
I do think that the new Speaker is such an idiot, that it may play to the Dems favor. 

Meanwhile, we live in interesting times. 

On the rare occasion I accidentally pick up on a pollster, I hang up. I'm simply not interested.

The problem with polls is that you are only getting responses from people willing to fill out polls.

I would love to know what % of the population that is.

It's doubtful, IMO, that polls show a true cross section of the population.

It shows a cross section of those with an axe to grind.

People are tribal and to vote outside your tribe will get you voted off the island

This is why we have a private vote. Just because you vote for an unpopular candidate (within your social circle), doesn't mean you have to claim it.
