Keep or Remove Religion Poll
December 5, 2023 at 8:48 am
You get to wave a magic wand with the single power of having every person on the planet stop believing every religion (they simply no longer believe) and giving the guarantee that no one will ever believe any religion ever again.
Do you wave it?

"Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever until the end of time. But he loves you! He loves you and he needs money!" (George Carlin 1937 – 2008)
"The world is my country; all of humanity are my brethren; and to do good deeds is my religion." (Thomas Paine)

Of course. Just look at the war in Palestine: they are not fighting for food or water or land, but because their fairytales are different. If religion suddenly disappeared, they would immediately stop fighting.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I'd probably wave a wand to get rid of the life denying religions..though, tbh, they're only ever waving that wand themselves.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Of course not. I find religion to be a great source of amusement.

Not quite the same question, but if I woke up and every single Bible in the world had magically disappeared, I wouldn't shed a single tear. So much deplorable shit has been said and done in its name. It reminds me of the film The Book Of Eli which is possibly one of the most depressing films I've ever seen; basically in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by war, of which you can imagine much of that was religiously motivated, one man, a prophet maybe/almost, strives to protect the last Bible in existence. I can't think of a more depressing premise for a film than that; it's basically brought the world to its knees, or played a large part in that, and still someone seeks to protect it as a precious symbol of hope. The irony is hard to stomach.

If I had the power, I still wouldn't have the right.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Yes.
And then I stab the wand maker with the remnant for making a wand with one power that can be used once!
