What patients has this shooter saved? That's right -- none.
When did he retire? I know he was still CEO in May.
I was apparently wrong on that score, apologies.

Or do away with the health insurance lottery, and then nationalise health care, with states running their own, funded from central government based on necessity, and through taxation.
OH IDK. It would take more than the one for sure. A few no nock raids and some qualified immunity for the raiders and John Q Corporation will get his shit straight under threat of violence just like the rest of us.

News Nation did a very creative interview with prisoners in Penn State prison where Luigi is being held. They asked the prisoners questions on-air while they watched on TV. They shouted answers out the window to a reporter stationed outside the prison.
Apparently, Luigi is in no danger from his fellow inmates as some have speculated. No surprise that state prisoners have no sympathy for a health insurance CEO.

The last article I saw was something to the effect of the trial having issues with finding jurors, because they were all too sympathetic toward the shooter.

It was either Twain or Mencken (I disremember which) who once categorized homicides as nefarious, justifiable, or laudable. I guess prospective jurors put this one in the third group.

The issue is Jury Nullification. From Wikipedia:
"Jury nullification, also known in the United Kingdom as jury equity, or a perverse verdict, is when the jury in a criminal trial gives a verdict of not guilty even though they think a defendant has broken the law. The jury's reasons may include the belief that the law itself is unjust, that the prosecutor has misapplied the law in the defendant's case, that the punishment for breaking the law is too harsh, or general frustrations with the criminal justice system. It has also been commonly used to oppose what jurors perceive as unjust laws, such as those that once penalized runaway slaves under the Fugitive Slave Act, prohibited alcohol during Prohibition, or criminalized draft evasion during the Vietnam War. Some juries have also refused to convict due to their own prejudices in favor of the defendant. Such verdicts are possible because a jury has an absolute right to return any verdict it chooses."
I'm guessing prosecutors in this case will attempt to intimidate potential jurors to not lie about any sympathies they harbor for the defendant. While the jury has the right to return any verdict they see fit, they might be subject to prosecution for lying during their interview process.

It used to be a legal defense of murder here in Texas: "He needed killin'." You just had to prove it.
