- Yes but what did the rest of the world do to Iran? There are people in India going back to their villages because they cannot cook food in the city anymore.
Many people here are young. But in the 1990’s there was this world order. No one could just take an international waterway just because it seemed like the smart thing to do. Not even in the Iran-Iraq war did anyone attempt to do something like that.
Quote:“Sail a foreign vessel through US waters in wartime and tell me what happens. It may not be legal, but nothing in this absurd mess is. Iran's simply calling out the obvious hypocrisy of invoking the law after the least legal course of action was permitted.”
Turkey controls the Strait of the Dardanelles and the Strait of the Bosporus. We have the right to block warships in wartime. But we can’t even block Russian Ships crossing the Straits in peacetime. That’s international law.
+ If Iran’s claim on the Strait of Hormuz was accepted that would generate some 80 Billion $/year for the revolutionary guards. I don’t know how much of this is correct. But I’ve heard that the Trump administration want a share of this (illegal) revenue.
Thumpalumpagus:

There's bullshit on all three sides here. What Israel and America have done is illegal. What Iran has with the Strait done is illegal. All three governments are odious. I feel worst for the Iranian populace caught in the middle.
I agree.

The Montreux Convention has nothing to do with the Strait of Hormuz. Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

Absolutely nothing, which is the problem. You don't get to sit back and ignore the law while the USA breaks it and then suddenly recall that the law exists when it's convenient. Enforcing those laws selectively just makes countries look like hypocrites, so people end up ignoring the law entirely.

Trump finally joining in and starting the military operation in Iran (having demonstrated his military capacities with the Kidnapping of Nicholas Maduro), as I said, some part of me decided it was really possible.
If you gave me a hundred guesses I wouldn't have landed on homer simpson for what you understood to be a cowboy. It's a strangely apt comparison for what it is, though. Trump and Netanyahu are on the same line too, alright, just not the one that helps iranians..or anyone but themselves, really. For trump that's the absolute bedrock of his personality. Whatever he's doing, he's helping himself. People stopped talking about how he rapes kids for a few days. I bet that's mana from heaven for the mad king.

We have a saying here in America: possession is 9/10 of the law. Since the illegal assault by Israel and America, Iran simply decided to play the cards in its hands. It's not legal and I don't like it, but this is a reaction, not an initiative, and I can't fault them for that. "You want to bomb my economy into the stone age? Fuck you, your economy, and your legal hypocrisy."

It would seem that Mail Order Melania has swung the pendulum back toward Epstein Files to help Preznit Shitforbrains take the focus off Epic Fury...or more accurately, Epic Fuckup.

Whatever the result with be, irans position, domestically and foreign relations, politically and financially, will be significantly strengthened.
The position if the US.... The inverse does apply.
The was no reason for the US to change the status quo Obama achieved. Yet, Trump carelessly started a war, probably to help an ally that rather is a liability. This started similar to wwi, and whatever Trump is gonna sign will effectively look like Versailles.
Iran will make lots of cash, buy more weapons for hezbollah etc. and suffering there will multiply.
