Being an Atheist parent in a Christian land

RE: Being an Atheist parent in a Christian land
Holocaust Supporters Parenting Network eh? I'm going to go ahead and ignore anything you have to say about children.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The just and pure extermination of a race of people. You're completely gone. Do you think about these things you say before you say them?

I'm not saying it wasn't evil, but I do believe there is a reason for everything, actually the holocaust caused a lot of Jews to be scattered to many areas, places they probably would have never been, families were impacted, new families were created, people were spared, people were killed in horrible ways, you can say what you want but there are many other things that came from the holocaust that wouldn't have happened. I noticed you left out slavery, apparently that wasn't gruesome enough for you. I think both times were gruesome and they impacted the world.

I'm still waiting for the upside. What happened to all those reasons, and justice, and purity, and the amen bit? (How often do people Godwin themselves?)

salty,
you really must learn to quote properly in your posts. It gets confusing who is saying what when you don't adhere to the quoting rules. Take a little extra time and please do it correctly. If you genuinely don't know how to use quotations in you responses, please PM any staff member and one of us will walk you through it.

Any plan involving genocide, torture, pillage, racism, sexism, infanticide or child abuse is a flawed plan.

I wonder if the Jews who died in the Holocaust are at peace with the whole theory that it happened for a reason, while they're burning in hell for not being saved Christians.

The Lord says that he will judge everyone according to what they have done, judgement hasn't come yet, even though many believe people are judged the instant they die I have reason to believe we will all be judged at the same time.

Not if you can see the whole picture, since you can't see the beginning from the end you don't understand how certain events will change and mold everything. I can't see the whole picture of this world either, but I can imagine it when I think of an author creating a story, if certain things don't happen many other things won't occur, as the author one can see the whole picture but the characters can only see what's going on around them. With or without your approval the world will keep turning and the Lords will, will be done.

Funny, because the lord said this too: I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man cometh unto the father, but by me..
(John 14:6)

Peter said this: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12)

1 John 2:23- Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

According to the bible, Hitler and his minions were justified in the eyes of God to kill the Jews.

Deuteronomy 17:12 - Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel.

According to your bible, the 6 million Jews who died in the holocaust are burning in hell, and Hitler was only following the rules. Is this what you suggest I teach my children? Disgusting.

What is the reason to keep a child in the dark? Do you actually dare to say that though a child's brain is not fully developed and can't be asked to make too big decisions, that she is not allowed to think for herself? My parents are atheists, but I only found it out last year. They have never ever discussed religion with me before, but yet I came to the conclusion myself that religion is bullshit. I did so because I was encouraged to think for myself. I learned to read as a three-year-old and when I was four or five I read a simplified version of the Bible. After I was done I honestly thought: "Nice stories, but it can't be real."

The thing is, even though I believed in a god for a long time and considered myself a Christian, I never took the Bible seriously. And as my dad said, you can't say to follow said scripture if you decide what's not to be followed and what's true. If you are correct and the Bible is the true word of the deity you choose to follow, then you are bound to actually follow it word for word and not weed out those parts that don't suit you.

The fair thing for ANY child is to be given good tools for critical thinking and the freedom to make decisions for themselves. No one can be forced into anything, if they're capable of rational thought.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
