Don't be sad, Frankie. I think it's a retarded prize even as a Muslim.

Considering that Somalia is currently an anarchistic hellhole, an AK-47 is the closest thing that anybody can get to authority.
If this was happening in Palestine, it would be chilling. Since it's in Somalia, however, it just seems like business as usual.

Religion is like a Penis, you shouldn't whip it out in public and you shouldn't shove it down your child's throat.

the OP makes it sound like the winner is going to take the AK and start killing people in the name of islam

firstly, these poverty stricken nations don't have a police
so every family has a weapon in one form or another--- you have to protect your family and assets somehow

It's like back in the day, where everyone had a sword and was trained in using it.

Back in the day they used those swords for murdering people who didn't believe in the same imaginary sky friend in which they believed.

Not everyone had a sword - explanation further declined.

Swords were usually a symbol of some sort of authority, royal blood, or wealth. In some cases, it was death for a member of the peasant caste of a society to carry such.

I would agree everyone had a knife of some sort, but those were all purpose tools. Not everyone had a sword and was trained to it, despite what movies might tell you.

Honey, you are making the sword thing a little too technical.

I meant it as a tool for protection.

In may ancient empires... the Romans, Greeks, Persians, ...etc. would train the young boys to be skilled with the sword--- just so they can protect their community in case of war.

Of course there are some poor peasants who couldn't afford it. But I'm sure they had some other tool to fend off enemies.
