All bodily functions stop, and consequently the cessation of our consciousnesses is the inevitable final outcome. There is no continuation. Entertaining such thoughts as "Will I live after I die?" is asinine. Its just as pointless a exercise as musing over "Was I alive before my conception?"

EDIT: oh, that's my 888th post. Pity I didn't post this at eight minutes past eight pm GMT to make it more memorable ^^

Okay but what do you think happens to you when you die?
Nothing.

Yeah, sugar, I figured you'd pick that one. Give me a second, I'm trying to find the right site while working AND writing up something for a botanics thread. Btw - you do realize that even if it's written in the Torah it doesn't mean it was a part of Judaism straight on back, right? Because I won't argue the belief of an afterlife nowadays. Fact remains it's a fantastically nebulous notion in Judaism period when compared to other religions, and most of it is tied to the notion of the messiah. Unless you start digging into Kabbalah, which most Jews don't.

My avatar, for one. I'll put up some visual delight in the pics thread for you if you like. I should warn you that it may bring on a strong case of weak knees.
I'm willing to take the risk.

Oh, I should ask - are you trying to argue specifically whether Jews had a concept of an afterlife at all? Or exactly what it was?
Because I know better than to argue minutiae with YECs without defined goalposts.

I don't see a point to think about life after death... If your "soul" ends up living on then hooray for us, but you should never let it influence any of your decisions in life. You may well be wasting the only life you will ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever have.

Wow, now, I'm gonna get in trouble but that was a stupid non-sensical response to the thread.

Life after death is not possible... since you haven't died if you're still alive. Death is in life's oblivion... until reached you are among the living.
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
