When I spoke of "tired arguments", I was speaking about those from the theist side of the peanut gallery.

Hehe, for my part, I don't give a fuck what they believe. I just can't stand to see people shit on the myths and culture behind those beliefs that actually do or did exist. I definitely can't stand the way that some of these douchebags piss on humanity as a whole. That's what keeps me at it.

Pick and choose your arguments.
You hardly see me arguing with fundies here, especially with scripture, unless it is merely concepts or such. And then I laden it with sarcasm and humor just to keep my interest up
I would rather have my teeth pulled than argue scripture or science with a fundy.

I just view the question of god and every single religion as incredibly pointless. I see no reason for me to care. Meh.

You can only listen to the same old, tired, false arguments for so long before you get tired of it all and just want to see something new for a change. There's only so many times you can see Pascal's Wager, shifting burden of proof, and attacks on evolution before you just want to throw your computer in the trash and walk away from it all.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

I haven't engaged in a debate with theist and I don't see the point, unless it is just an entertaining intellectual exercise. I am pretty new to this forum so I am sure that eventually I wil get drawn Into an argument. It's inevitable, hang around the barbershop long enough and you will eventually get a haircut.

I was going to start a thread on "Atheist Fatigue or Atheist Burn-out" when I saw this one. I have fundamentalist Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Deists in my family. Discussing religion with any of them is like arguing about the best flavor jelly bean with someone who has no taste buds. It is a lost cause. There is something broken there that makes them NEED to believe. I've found the folks who are passionate about Atheism can be just as frightening. Its a NON-BELIEF! Whats to argue about?
I've finally gone beyond being an Agnostic Atheist and settle on being an Ignostic. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignosticism). Its not about comfort or being right. Its about knowing that we don't know and going on to have a nice, productive, happy life.
I find it humorous that I'm the guy who is trusted to unlock & lock a church for volleyball when the regular guy (the church's childrens pastor) can't do it. Yesterday a new player asked me what my religion was. I said to myself, "Oh shit here we go again." I told him I was agnostic/atheist/ignostic (for simplicity's sake!) and asked if he was a Christian. He said no, he was a Free Thinker, he believed in everything! WTF!? I just played volleyball. You can't fix stupid and I have no further interest in saving the world from itself.
I read every book on apologetics I could get my hands on and got ordained several times when I was a Christian (years ago). When finding the truth became more important than the fellowship and my unanswered questions would slumber no more, I read about as many books on atheism and disbelief. I'm not angry, righteous, resentful, or lonely anymore.
My dogtags in the military had "NONE" for religion. I think thats the best answer I can embrace.

I know exactly what you mean WelshCake. I think it sometimes just boils down one immutable truth. Some people’s belief is so entrenched that no matter what they will never change their minds. Ever. I’ve more or less given up with arguing with fundies online. It’s a pointless exercise, other than for the lulz ofc.
Look on the bright side though dude, at least in good ole Blighty we don’t have to deal with the question every single freaking day. I really feel for our American brothers and sisters. Over this side of the pond I can go weeks without having anything or anyone remind me about religion. Its just not that prevalent where I live.
