Speculate on Jesus 3 days of HELLISH torment !!!

But now the idea has been raised, I suppose that if it's a true story god must have let the devil have at. And presumably he'd have done his worst knowing full well his time was limited. If you really do believe in heaven and hell and the death and resurrection, it's worth contemplating. It certainly ups the sacrifice stakes. It's more of an act of love and sacrifice if he went to hell for reals rather than just winking out for bit isn't it? But frankly it ups my Christian god doesn't exist stakes. You see even three days of the worst torment imaginable is more than any human deserves for tormenting others during life. So the just, let alone loving, god of the NT simply can't exist.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers. Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities. --Voltaire Nietzsche isn't dead. How do I know he lives? He lives in my mind.
If there's some principle of justice to which Yahweh must adhere then that principle is god and Yahweh is just a puppet deity who must do as he is bidden.

Jenny, you seem to be one of the most bible literate atheists in this forum. Do you think that the bible says Jesus went to hell and was tortured and tormented by Satan? Also, do you think that the bible says that Jesus died only for 144,000 people (virgin men no less)? Maybe, in the process of getting out your frustrations with christians, you all like to make things up and then rag on us about those things. RE: Speculate on Jesus 3 days of HELLISH torment !!!

I'm not sure how that would work though. Physical death of His human body, yada, yada, yada, but His immortal Soul (Jesus had a Soul, right?) would have some sort of continuity between His expiration on the cross and His resumption of His celestial duties. Unless of course It didn't. And if It did, well, what else is there for It to experience except vile and pernicious torments in Hell during the time period in question ?? Like I noted before, Jesus isn't going to be noshing canapes in the VIP box in the Ninth Circle of Hell in the interim, although we apparently have some christers here with their little hearts set on minimizing the notion of any particular inconvenience experienced on their behalf by Jesus. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

A lot of Atheists are biblical literalists. It makes up for the fact that most Christians today are not, because to be so you would have to believe some ridiculous stuff and also modify your behavior in a way that is not consistent with modern society. Also I think there are a lot of things that would make modern Christians theologically uncomfortable about the bible. The reality is that if you have even a moderately conservative view of the bible, say that people commonly had 80 or 100 years ago, the whole idea of modern protestantism, with it's john 3:16 fetish, goes right out the window.
I know I am again sounding like a broken record again, but damn, I'd sure like to get some christer witnesses here that are Literalist and Inerrant Believers and who eschew all this new fangled heresy, apostasy and blasphemy.
Fuck, if that caliber of religionite is all that God Almighty can cough up these days, he's doomed, doomed I say. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
