Thanks for replying.  I asked you because you seem to to be pretty familiar with the bible.  Actually the bible says Jesus was without sin, and that he was truly human.

So are walking on water, raising others from the dead, feeding hundreds from enough food for a few, coming back from the dead in the first place, global floods, fitting millions of species on a little boat/creating all of today's species from a handful of "kinds" in just a few thousand years, parting seas, turning staffs to snakes, making rivers run with blood, etc...

Well, the coming back form the dead part is of great interest because of the gap in the narrative from expiring on the cross to resurrecting.

Presumably, what was going on in those 'lost hours' was advancing Salvation for the lucky 144,000 somehow.

I don't see how Jesus going club hopping in that interval accomplishes anything salvific.  So too if He was in some undefined 'limbo' state.  What are we to make of that idea ?  Jesus was in a discontinuous or nonconsolidated form ??   I'm picturing an amorphous quantum energy blob outside of the continuum, and that seems rather unBiblical.

So what's left ??

This what the bible says about it.  Where ever souls existed as they they awaited the final judgement, which is yet to come, must be where Jesus went for at least some of the time.  No mention of hell or that Jesus was tormented by the devil.

How is that an answer to: Why did jesus have to go down to hell? And, why did he have to be down there for 3 days?

I think I have made a valiant effort in making the story make sense. 

Satan HAD to be appeased (compensated) in the transaction that purchased Salvation for the 144,000.   Jesus is clearly the only one tagged to pay too, never heard a christer claim anyone else's sacrifice would do. Clearly, boiling ordinary sinners in molten iron doesn't buy Salvation for anyone. Just try to imagine for a moment what Jesus would have had to willingly endure to appease Satan for the sake of the 144,000 !!!   And to do it in just a matter of several hours.

If anything, I have understated the magnitude of His (temporary) torment.   Satan would not be bought off cheap.

 You were looking for laughs and kudos, you got them too.  Satan did not have to be appeased, Satan answers to God and if you can't see that from the Bible (even though you don't believe) then you haven't read the Bible or your reading comprehension is terribly lacking.

After all, one single denomination withing the multitude of the Christian religion can be considered biblically illiterate by any other denomination due to the differences in interpreting scripture.

Why wouldn't the christer cause be enhanced with additional Jesus suffering beyond his hours on the cross??  I'm surprised this is even an issue.  
There is almost universal horror of gay stuff in the christer orbit, having their Salvation purchased by their Jesus suffering mightily at the hands, er, well, the barbed and cloven penis of Satan,  would make their Eternal Reward all the more precious, no ??
