Quote:The final live US presidential debate is to be given extra spice after Donald Trump invited Barack Obama's half-brother along to the event.
As a Trump supporter, Malik Obama has already told US media the tycoon "can make America great again".
And in an interview with the New York Post, Malik Obama, who splits his time between Kenya and the US, said he is "excited to be at the debate".
Mr Trump told the paper that Malik "gets it far better than his brother".
The previous live events were vitriolic affairs - and the upcoming clash at the University of Nevada is likely to be just as tense.

Desperation. Reeks of it.
Which makes me worry about how much lower Trump will take our political discourse in front of a Super Bowl sized audience.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I'm most worried about voter intimidation at the polls. You know these Trump lunatics are going to be there looking over everyone's shoulder, because the election could be "rigged."
And to be fair to Melania, it usually is a Bush's fault, so I can see how she might think that.

Trump: so bad that Arizona is in play (as Min has already pointed out) and Texas is now potentially up for grabs, according to the latest meta-poll data. GOP strategists must be having a collective stroke. I'll be shocked if they don't change their primary rules in time for 2020 to avoid a similar catastrophe down the road.
I wish I could say the same about my grudgingly adopted state of Louisiana, but it appears Trump has a substantial lead here. Yes, we are deplorable on a variety of levels. What puzzles me is why it should be so. We have a substantial black population that could turn the whole thing around. I'll have to see what numbers I can dig up regarding past black voter turnout in Louisiana.
As for Trump's call for self-appointed monitors at polling places, I sort of hope that there are some at the place I will vote, and I hope I'm approached by some of them so I can tell them in no uncertain terms to go fuck themselves.

They did a report on that poll watcher shit out here. It probably varies state by state but even in fucking AZ it is not a question of showing up at the polls. Such "watchers" must be trained and appointed by the parties.
If Drumpf's brown shirts start showing up by themselves the election officials will simply call the cops to remove them.

Not just desperate but petulantly vindictive. He ran for the GOP nomination and now doesn't seem to care a bit whether he takes it down in flames with him. If he had any concern for his adopted party -- much less a shred of decency or integrity -- he'd acknowledge the myriad ways he has fucked his own campaign, make whatever olive branch offering he can to what's left of GOP down-ticket prospects, and work to ensure GOP control of Congress -- even if it means publicly falling on his own sword for the "greater good" of his party. But of course he won't, since this is all about him and everyone else can go to hell. He's a child lionized and supported by children.
And please note: I am not a Republican. I don't shill for them and don't support them. But I do feel a slight twinge of compassion for those Republicans (not the leadership but the rank-and-file) who never supported Trump to begin with and who have been stuck with this buffoon as their public standard-bearer. But it's a twinge only because Trump is the logical outcome of the strategy their party leadership has pursued since at least '68, and the party is now getting what it richly deserves. Perhaps now, finally, they will start getting serious about becoming the big tent party they've always claimed to be. But that will require jettisoning the dipshit lunatic base and the Jesus freaks they've courted for so long.
I don't envy their top strategists post-Trump. I sure as hell wouldn't want the job.
