You deny the fact that basically every LITERAL representation of "Gawd" in the bible has made up bullshit, you also most likely deny the mountains of scientific evidence disproving that the world is 6,000 years old, the fact the great flood never happened, and so much more. Also, you most likely deny the mountains of evidence proving evolution. If you believe a flying bearded omniscient tyrant in the sky who created EVERYTHING, and is both himself, and his own son, and that he both loves you like no one else, but would send you to burn in hell forever for not believing in him enough at the same time? You're in denial, no rational person would believe all that ridiculous bullshit. You're the childish one here, basing your life on fairytales.

Yeah, miss lead by whom? Their delusions? Because those people tell dramatic and sincere stories of answered prayers and use it to "prove" that their religion is accurate and their gods are real, just like Christians do, but unlike Christians they're doomed to hell.
Some time in the past those religions started either by Satan's influence or by a man's own will through selfish motivation. The religion lived on for whatever reason and the people that follow those religions have been mislead by others. Unless they find Christ and accept Him for who He is they will go to an eternal punishment.

FM Wrote:Well GC, your post could be lump up that you seem to think that for being a Christian nothing matters apart from a few basic tenets centered on Jesus. That's a nice, concise, and inclusive thought, I suppose, but I don’t see how it can be true. If it were true, wouldn’t there just be one big unified group of Christians with only a few offshoots at most? Something does matter in addition to believing that Jesus is God, and it must matter a great deal because wars have been fought, people tortured, and families torn apart over disagreements within Christianity.
As an atheist I'm fine with lumping all Christians together. But I shouldn't do that, according to many Christians themselves. Many of them exclude Mormons or Jehovah's Witness and do not consider them to be "real Christians," for example. Even you yourself admit there are fake Christians who are only there for getting rich, but who are you to say they are fake? I mean they also say you are fake Christian.
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion from my short statement above, curious. There is an entire book on Christianity it's called the Bible read it and you might see that Christianity covers more than one person could ever understand. Many wars have been started over many things, many people have been tortured over things other than religion, more families have been torn apart over money than any other single thing. We can go on playing tube blame game as long as you want to but, it's not going to get us close to an intelligent discussion.
The Mormons and the Jehovah's Witness are modern day cults started by one person trying to suck others into their delusion. There are others that are borderline but, let's just stay with the two most popular. As for me being a Southern Baptist many denominations would say I'm not a Christian, know why, because we try to live as close to the biblical teachings as possible. Are we better no what we do not do is stand on just a few verses to support our denomination. Most other denominations think we are wrong about once saved always saved but, hey that's their right, I can tell you this no one denomination has it all right and if you find one that believes so and teaches so they are most likely a cult.
I can say they are fake because what they do doesn't stand up to biblical criteria for Christians.

FM Wrote:Well again I don't see how reading the Bible looking for answers would bring me correct answers when even Christians get completely different answers from it.
If the Bible was inspired by God and was meant to instruct humankind, then why can't Christians at least, if not the entire world, agree on it?
We are a sinful people, all of us and we put ourselves before most things in life. Christians put themselves before , why, selfishness wanting to be above the others. Christians to often forget we're to be a humble people. Most denominations believe in the most important tenets of the scriptures when it comes to salvation and what most of us disagree on doesn't mount to a hill of beans.
I tried not to say this but, you're not leaving much choice, the questions you have been asking are basic things most young Christians could answer. There is a level that everyone can read the Bible and understand the basics, it's the God inspired things that you couldn't understand if someone were to explain them to you. I see it on here all the time.
FM Wrote:Some denominations project live-and-let-live attitudes. Others, however, openly state that they are right and everyone else is wrong—and will pay a severe price on Judgment Day. We can get you into heaven, they say, but that other church is a one-way ticket to hell.
Like I said being a Southern Baptist I know this, I will tell you this most Southern Baptist do not think like you described above. When I've talked to people about Jesus and felt like the person was wanting to find out more I would tell them to find a good church close to them and search more. If you'll notice I didn't tell them any particular denomination. I knew if they were sincere God would lead them to a church that would be helpful to them no matter the denomination.
FM Wrote:There are Christians who support gay rights,

FM Wrote:Christians who strongly condemn homosexuality, and then there are Christians who have no interest in other people's sexuality. [\quote]
I strongly condemn those things the Bible teaches against, God didn't created man for man nor woman for woman. Those Christians who look the other way would be asked by Christ AsHe asked Paul, what's the matter with you are you ashamed of me and what I Am. That's a paraphrase.
FM Wrote:There are Christians who say Jesus wants them to amass extravagant wealth as quickly as possible, and others who say that Jesus wants them to give it all away.
Neither of those things have biblical support of any kind, the Bible is our guide to spiritual living, not getting wealthy or making ourselves poor, those are physical desires. Jesus told us that God takes care of the smallest of birds and then asked how much more do you think the Father loves you. He meant the Father would provide for us what we needed and could handle.
FM Wrote:Some Christians fight in wars, and some are pacifists who won’t go near one.
I see this as a personal choice but, I think those who object to fighting should still serve in some form if our country calls them, there are many things besides fighting.

So you admit that stuff in the bible is junk? Have you even read the bible? Because everything I've stated earlier is basically what is written/implied in the bible, and/or accepted by the majority of Christians. And according to your own logic, you should stay out of this conversation, as you don't know what Christians believe. You just cherry-pick the parts that you think you could justify, and claim all the other nonsense "isn't really Christian" we've all heard that excuse.
I got nothing wrong in my statement about Christianity, your personal preferences of cherry picking you bible does not excuse your bible of the bullshit that according to the bible itself, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE. Tell me exactly how I was implying nonsense? Tell me what "Actual Christians" believe. Don't fucking pull a straw-man on me, Evolution has tons of evidence, anyone who denies so much evidence is in denial. Fossil records prove evolution, there is no way around it, and don't pull that "missing link" bs on me, humans are constantly evolving, so it is impossible to fill every "missing link", because that would basically require a example of a fossil for every year in the past 5 million fucking years or so, and that's nearly impossible. if you want to learn about evolution, go to a secular, scientific website(s), and go read some books.

I've read the Bible more than you've ever seen one and I'm sure that wouldn't take much reading. However I do not just read the Bible I study it with the help of God who reveals His truths from it to me. I know the Bible is true, from the first word to the last. I do not cherry pick the scriptures I try to tie all subjects together from all the parts of the Bible. Cherry picking is for those who are not smart enough to argue against the scriptures, that would be you lad.

You have everything wrong, all you're doing is parroting the things the big atheist say, you have to there's nothing new to say, I've heard it all it gets tiring listening to the same old junk. There are a few here that do have good discussions with me and I enjoy having conversations with them, that wouldn't be you yet. The language you use shows you have little control over you mouth and mind, it shows me you can't put up a good argument, remember running off at the mouth shows you're impolite, immature and not capable of carrying on intelligent conversation.

So there you go. As you call your religion peace inspiring you call people of the other religions as devil worshipers and that doesn't leave much sympathy toward them and you probably think of them as not much worthy of peace since they worship the devil.
Has it ever occurred to you that you might also be deluded? That Christianity’s effort substantially is not different from all the other religions? That is it just one more pyramid reaching for a heaven we can’t see? Don't you think you were raised to believe and have never known anything else?

Don't you think this is simply your views on the Bible? You know Bible is pretty contradictive? You tell me I don't know the Bible and yet you yourself have a generalized understanding of the moderate version of god, because there are in fact a handful of biblical passages that indicate monetary greed is a virtue.
Here are some passages from the Bible, to whom you claim is against being greedy and having lots of money:
Proverbs (14:20)—"The poor are disliked even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends."
Proverbs (17:8)—"A bribe is a charm to the one who gives it; wherever he turns, he succeeds."
Ecclesiastes (10:19)—"A feast is made for laughter and wine makes life merry, but money is the answer for everything."
So what gets GC? Did you not know of these passages or do you simply pretend they don't exist?
We have priests and bishops, like Catholics (whom you say are on the right way) among others that carry golden and bejeweled crosiers and wear silken robes, swinging censers of solid gold and living in manors, preaching in churches whose estimated worth is in that of the hundreds of millions of dollars and clothes and money and they got that from reading Bible.
When pastor Jeremiah Cummings was asked about his money and wealth he simply said "when Jesus was born, they brought him gold. They brought him gold. He was not poor. He wore fine linen." So you see to some people Bible does say to amass large amounts of money.

So you are calling Catholics a cult? They do believe and teaches they are right and all others are cults.
But you're right in one thing the world’s Christians can't even agree on precisely who Jesus is, what he wants them to do, how they are supposed to worship him, and how to get to heaven.

That is all fucking bullshit, the fossil records SHOWS how species evolved over time, our genetic connection with other primates PROVE we share a common ancestor. Know why some are in the wrong layers? OUTLIERS, in some circumstances, some fossils just happen to end up deeper. And even if your statement were true, it would not fucking invalidate evolution, at most, it would question if SOME species existed at a different point in time. I stand by my previous statement, and as I've said, inaccuracies in the evolutionary timeline does not invalidate all of the evidence supporting evolution you imbecile, this is just another case of a Christian being extremely skeptical, to the point of denial about hard evidence, and yet, doesn't question a thing from a book of fairytales, and anecdotal bs. I don't know, GC. Unless your trust in the holy scriptures is grounded in a strictly literal interpretation, the evolution debate isn't really that important. I don't see any problem with natural selection.

It's something that makes god unnecessary. I'd imagine that you, of all people, would be able to see the problem with that..being a person who thinks that nothing, literally nothing, is possible or coherent without your god?
As soon as you make -any- "well, god is necessary for natural selection because of dependencies a b or c...." you are no longer talking about natural selection, but natural selection.
