The "If" makes that look like it was pulled out of context and not actually supportive of Trump, so I checked the page.

Yes, but in this case, he acted on the hate towards a minority.
The stabbing, I guess, stemmed from that previously recognized propensity for crime.

The narrative becomes that these people with such a propensity are (perhaps now more so than before, but I don't have the stats to back that up) acting against the minorities that the President has shown to be against.

The point is that having a mentally ill person like Trump as president gives other mentally sick individuals the idea that it is perfectly okay to say and act just as the president is performing. They think that if it is okay for Trump to publicly act like an entitled white asshole, then it is equally okay for them to act the same way.

Yes, I understand the point. I'm saying that it hasn't been supported. Numerous incidents have turned out to be hoaxes. The Portland murderer has prior convictions on violent charges and there's no indication he thought he'd just be allowed to go free from this one because Trump's president. The left wants this narrative to be true, but so far it just isn't.

The stats indicate that hate crimes are up and it's probably because of Trump. Attribution to any single incident like this is impossible however, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that when the leader sets a tone like Trump has, it will be attractive to those already inclined towards hatred, especially those who have already shown such a tendency.
