My point is, this ain't exactly a new thing.

Go look up some of the anti-Catholic stuff on presidential candidate (and president) Kennedy.  To this day, BTW, I find his defense of the "Catholic thing", that he wasn't a very good Catholic, to be problematic on several levels.  But even as a kid growing up in the 60s, I was aware there was some pretty virulent anti-Catholic sentiment.  Even heard it from folks/relatives and that was despite some Catholic intermarriage already existing in the family at that time.

Hopefully you're right, and this guy, and antifa violence, are just blips.

But consider that the world has changed a lot since then. In particular, the internet makes it a lot easier for people to obsess over these things.

It's too early to say that political violence is now instigated more easily, but I don't think it's safe to just assume that societal dynamics now are the same as they were 3 to 5 decades ago.

That's 4.88 per 100,000 people!

Compare that to... say.... Portugal!
100 murders per year, or 0.97 per 100,000 people.

That's still too many.... we do have a few nutjobs, too.. I guess they're everywhere... but hey... at least they don't have easy access to guns, so the end result is a clear 20% of the US's fear of other people.
That makes my life oh so much less stressful. 80% less.

Where did I bash liberals as a whole? I make a distinction between liberals and the far left with their craziness. When you read my posts you won't see where I argue against liberals.
