(not arguing the count of idiocy..lol) Well, how often do you go shopping at the local mini-market while armed? And as anyone who has a concealed weapons permit, or a right to carry permit know, you don't stuff a piece down the front of your pants! You put it in a holster under your jacket or shirt, hence concealed. Or you put it in a shoulder harness so it's under your arm area. Or, in some States, you can wear a holster.
Otherwise, stuffing a PINK gun down the front of his pants, minus a holster, can be presumed to be for quick access or visual intimidation. Besides the idiocy as to how easily it can slip from the waist band and fall into the pants!
And that it went off means he didn't have the safety on, and if it was a revolver, it means he had to cock (pun not intended) the hammer back and squeeze the trigger. An automatic means, he had to have engaged the slide, which would load the chamber, have the safety off and then pull the trigger.
So presuming he was up to no good, isn't outside of possibility.
Responsible gun owners, don't do what he did. And that gun wouldn't have been able to shoot a live round, had he not had it primed to do so.

I'm guessing Plaxico Burress feels a tiny bit better about himself after hearing this story.

I have a feeling an Arizona dickless wonder would have to go a long way to soften the blow of the loss of a 35 million dollar football contract.

Not necessarily in the US. Just as likely to be a common-or-garden variety dickhead. As it was pink, and apparently had the safety off, making it an accessory, the latter is more likely. Yeah OK,a LOT of career criminals are also really stupid.
In Australia,it is almost impossible to legally obtain a hand gun and an offence to carry one unless secured in a holster even with a permit.. You can forget about semi automatics and full automatic rifles.
Purely unrelated of course,we have one of the lowest rates of gun deaths in the world. The US is fourth highest, another unrelated coincidence.
I think I'll stick with today's phrase 'cognitive dissonance'.

Not all "gun nuts" are fucking idiots, Min. He shouldn't have had a bullet in the chamber and he should not have had a handgun with what must have been a very sensitive trigger pull. Either that, or he really shoved that thing down his pants, which would also have been ludicrously stupid. Applying gun safety measures is absolutely foolproof, but people are really dumb. We have safeties, we have the fact that a gun cannot go if there is no bullet in the chamber. We have the fact that an unloaded gun cannot go off (most guns are quick to load, so there is NO reason to carry a fully or even partially loaded weapon. At least, there is no good reason.). We have gun safes, safety holsters, trigger locks, etc. This stuff doesn't happen because guns exist. It happens because we let idiots have them. You're on the opposite end of the spectrum from the NRA. Any example of a person doing something stupid with a gun has you calling every gun owner a gun nut. There are people in the middle who have guns and handle them very carefully. There are instances where guns save lives.

And the statistics related to armed criminals in Australia are zero! Awesome!

Don't they have to die stupid in order to garner the Darwin?

And proudly so, Shel.
I think Australia has the right idea because there seems to be no effort to keep the "stupid people" from getting guns.

Haha, well, I wasn't implying you should be on the same end of the spectrum.
