One sentence that throws the problem of evil out of the window.

RE: One sentence that throws the problem of evil out of the window.
Quote:Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man intimately. But all the girls who have not known a man intimately, spare for yourselves.
-God.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Why is it a paradox?

I generally avoid reading your threads so don't assume that I know what you are talking about. i find word salad tedious.

I may have misunderstood your post.

Do you mean that God does away with the problem of evil as in evil would not be a problem or do you mean it particularly does away with the problem of evil because the problem of evil is only a problem if a God exists?

I think this is false. It's like saying if God was all-powerful, he can create four side triangles.

No, because a triangle has three sides by definition. It is not at all definitionally certain that God can only achieve what he wants through the vehicle of human suffering.

There's the distinct possibility that he intentionally poisoned the well from which we drink so that he could sell us the antidote.  That would be -one- way in which it would be impossible for him to achieve his purpose in the absence of human suffering.

-Since we're considering possibilities and all...

Bullshit, bullshit. Only a seriously twisted evil person can think that and I know you guys don't really believe that, you're just saying that to give your point more weight, whatever, but still, not cool though. Don't agree with it at all but you're entitled to your opinion.

Until you learn what the words being used at the adult table mean and improve your reading comprehension, you're better off here.

And yet, we're meant to worship him. Sort of like thanking a man for selling you a bandage after he cuts you with a knife.

What's ridiculous, in this thread... is retreating into nonsense about how all the atheists are deficient in some way relative to kiddie fucking just because the believing sets brilliant solution to the problem of evil turned out not to be so brilliant, or a solution.

It is probably better to emphasize our obvious fit as a mammal since "man vs animal" would be a traditional use of the animal category.

The next time we hear about a little girl being raped by her father, are you going to say "well, the otters do it... we are all mammals after all"?

No, we can quite easily consider it to be evil while still knowing that it is a subjective opinion. Why is judging something as evil any different to judging something as funny?

There will always be people who disagree given different circumstances. You are assuming that everyone thinks the same.

What about a society that believes in the biblical attitude of an eye for an eye and rapes and tortures a child who is also a child rapist? I personally would find that just as sick but that's my subjective opinion. i don't try to argue that my opinions carry any more weight than they do. You on the hand are arguing from credulity.
