One sentence that throws the problem of evil out of the window.

The first site you posted, I took a look at, and it wasn't even a Catholic site. A quick look at it showed a pretty fundamentalist, fire and brimstines, type of Christianity. Talking about the rapture and stuff lol... yeah, you found a doozy my friend. But that's an A+ for effort.

The second site was a Catholic site, and a very conservative one by the looks of it, but even still, nowhere on there did the author say that atheists and those of other faiths go to Hell. The official Catholic teaching on this is that we simply don't know and can't say because it is impossible for us to judge the soul of another.

For future reference, if you want to know the official Catholic position on something, look at the Catechism. The whole thing is online, so a quick Google search should turn up what you need.

Okay. What about Wikipedia?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_...atholicism

Quote:The Catechism of the Catholic Church which, when published in 1992, Pope John Paul II declared to be "a sure norm for teaching the faith",[43] defines hell as eternal fiery punishment for refusing to love God:

It's not funny at all. It's sad.

Annnnnnnd where does it say on there that Catholic teaching is that atheists and those of other faiths go to Hell??

As for your question regarding Wikipedia...

Listen, the Catechism is the official document with all the Catholic teaching regarding faith and morals. So I'll say it again: If you want to know what the Church's official stance on something is, your best bet is to go to the Catechism and look up whatever you want to find. That way you avoid arguing a strawman of Catholicism and making yourself look silly in the process. Going straight to the source is a much better option than relying on Wikipedia or someone's blog site.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

It doesn't matter what you, or they... think about better worlds or whether or not a reward is worth it to someone.  The problem of evil can be restated for better worlds, and nothing about there being candy at the end of the rapefest makes it less of a rapefest.... so that's a complete non-issue for the PoE.

If this is the best god can do then this is the best god can do.  Suffering exists in this world.  In that case, god may be willing, but he's just not capable.

If this isn't the best he could do, it;s still what he did.  Suffering exists in this world.  In that case, he's capable, but not willing.

If he's both willing and able...then at least some of this suffering wouldn't exist...and yet it does.

These guys are telling us that they can't solve the PoE (completely predictable), but they're pretty sure god is giving out lollies so they don't need to think about it.

In the catechism, sillypants, same as last time;
Quote:1857 For a sin to be mortalthree conditions must together be met: "Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent."131
Next we'll be asked for a list of "grave matters".  Three guesses as to where one finds it......

A good catholic girl who blasphemes the holy spirit or rejects god for having failed to come to her aid during a rape...dies in mortal sin when her rapist hits her over the head with a rock. I die in mortal sin when I finally pass out for the last time, comfy and cozy, on my couch. Heretics and heathens who've heard and understand the word and reject it die in mortal sin if they fail to accept christ before their death. Breaking the very first commandment, is a "grave matter".

You know who doesn't die in mortal sin? A repentant rapist.

Quote:Eskimo: 'If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?' Priest: 'No, not if you did not know.' Eskimo: 'Then why did you tell me?'

The bold part is kind of my point. And that's why it *is* an issue. A truly good God wouldn't make a world with evil in it. There isn't anything that can justify any of that. The PoE is irrefutable.

Then, you believe in Catechism and not the Bible; which points and indicates that the Christian Catholic faith is a human invention, subject to change with the times, depending on what the clergy says. What is allowed today can be forbidden tomorrow, and vice versa. There is no teachings of Jesus; teachings of Jesus are what the Church says.

That is hijacking of religion, and a control move that keeps the followers of the Church under utter control, and destruction of personal choice. Such a good control model worthy to be a role model for Shiite and Sunni Muslims too. Eventually it's nothing but a Roman Pope's orders and commands that Catholics follow.

Opium of the masses.

Again; here is where the link from wikipedia specifies that Catholic doctrine promise hell for "any person refusing God".
Who is God in Catholic religion, but Jesus? the son of man? God's manifestation in human form?

Which makes everybody on this site who isn't accepting Jesus as God, in the lake of fire.

Big Mo was certainly a fan.  Perhaps he got a taste for it in Syria? After all..he decided to hijack the eastern christian faith, sprinkle a bit of rabbinical judaism for flavor...then account for the superstitions of the locals.....insisting all the while that he spoke for god.  Wink

Not really. To approach Islam is so different than approaching Christianity.

In Islam, you read the Quran like Mohammed did, and you don't trust the clergy or your fathers with their teachings. Also; you tend to contact God directly (by praying). There is no "official clergy" that contact God for you.
