What are your answers?
#71
RE: What are your answers?
I still have yet to have a christian answer me about how they feel comfortable saying god is good when half of the people who have EVER lived are supposed to suffer for believing the wrong thing. Seriously? How are you comfortable with that?
If I die and god is real, im so screwed.

For those Christians that have burned you, me included, I apologize. For Christians that have remained faithful and good friends to you, I ask that you keep them in mind when unkind Christians terrorize your neighborhood....
LastPoet, it's not my intention to sway you, Searchingforanswers asked me a question, and I answered.

What have you learned?

Short Version:
1. Christianity is really plastered all over the place and can be irritating for people expressing their freedom to not believe what I believe.
2. Some Christians have come to this website seeking to "win" converts instead of making friends.
3. Not every comment, no matter how harsh it may seem is meant as an attack, it's just friendly debate!
4. It's not a Christian's job to decide what an athiest thinks, but it is their job to ask, so that there will be clarity in the relationship.
5. The internet is extremely useful and fun, I haven't had mental stimulation with other opinionated people for months! I'm loving this!!

Don't mind me:: doing the running man::

Who are you talking about, when you say half the people that ever lived? Are you talking about before the flood? Do you believe the flood happened? If you don't believe it happened, then what does it matter (shrug)? But if you DO believe it happened, then you can trust that God was telling the truth when he said that he could see their hearts were wicked and he was sorry he made them. (Gen 6:5-6)

Do you know the thoughts and actions of all these people you claim are going to suffer? I don't know about their thoughts and actions and I know that there is nothing I can do to atone for the choices they have made. I trust that they will be judged by God, fairly in the end. I say that God is Good because I believe that his sense of justice is far better than mine. I know that I'm not good because of the evil that I've done, therefore when I think of him forgiving me time and again, I see God as completely good.

Ah, you believe that there was a global flood. Well sorry to disappoint but there is no evidence that such an event ever happened. A small localised flood maybe, but not global. Never happened.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Atheists are forced to speak in the hypothetical until such time as evidence is provided. Don't read too much into it.

I was half expecting him to go on about the ark. Kinda hoping he would actually. Was very prepared for it.

No. Atheists, and most sane people, don't feel rejected by not being recognised/acknowledged by what we regard to be fantasy; i.e. not real, a product of the human imagination.

Quote:2. Do athiests hate God or do they hate organized religion in general?
No. We don't believe any god exists. We can't actively despise what isn't actually real, and that goes double for religion as well. Religion isn't an objective entity causing us harm, its the crazy theist nutballs who subscribe to its dangerous dogma unquestionably that have us concerned, and what we vehemently oppose.

Quote:3. Why does it seem like athiests hate Jesus more than anyone, what do you think of Jesus?
See answer to question 2.

Quote:4. Do any of you know athiests that have converted to another religion, did you feel swayed by their conversion?
Atheists convert and theists de-convert all the time for a variety of reasons. I care whether my beliefs are true or not, and every time I hear an atheist convert its either due to peer pressure, some kind of emotional appeal, or they're being intellectually dishonest (they were never an atheist to start with). How we feel about reality is irrelevant at the end of the day, it has no bearing on what is real, so these justifications are not enough to convince me that their position accurately reflects reality.

Quote:5. Are you an athiest based on your research of many of the top religions, or does your athiesm come from a personal experience where you feel that God didn't show up like he should have?
Neither. You should rephrase the question better, be more specific. If you want a de-conversion story I'm happy to give you a brief summary.

Quote:6. Since athiests don't believe in God and dislike when people force God on them, why do they force their negative and hateful opinions on Christians (and other religions) through mockery and verbal assault?
Damn right we don't appreciate it when people resort to various tactics to get their message and persuasive religious arguments across, such as threats and the like. Its arrogant, controlling and disrespectful to the extreme.

Appeals to ridicule can not only be entertaining, but also serve to expose the wicked Christian religious dogma for what it is - an evil cult that condemns non-believers to an eternal realm of torture, suffering and/or destruction.

Ok. I have to go bowling soon, so I'm going to make this quick, but I'll be baaaaack!! Captain Scarlet: Searchingforanswers asked a Christian opinion therefore by default the Bible will be used. Also check out John 6:44-51 where Jesus declares he's God when he likens himself to the bread of life. In addition, read about the connection between Father and Son and that they share equal power (John 3:34-36). In John 16:7-9 we also see that there is a third party, which is the Spirt. So, take a look at that and we can continue our debate, if you're not up for it, then we can just drop it and move on to something else. I don't want to force you to read anything you don't want to read. Rhythm, give me until tomorrow man, I need to pack up and get going, those are some real challenges, I better pray it up tonight! See you all later!
