Is this wrong?

Is this wrong?
I was watching a tv show called 'This Morning' here in the UK. It's basically a breakfast show where they do all sorts of pointless shit and occasionally talk about a bit of news going on in the world and whatever. On it they had a couple of American guests. But they weren't ordinary American guests, they were conjoined twins, and by the head no less.

Apparently they are the oldest conjoined twins in the world.
When asked if they ever considered living life without the other person (seperately) they (or at least the talkative one) came out with the stock Christian answer, 'God made us this way for a reason'.

I don't know about anyone else but this actually makes me sick. Seeing this kind of abnormality, and I mean no disrespect to the people either, would only strengthen my view that no god can exist, and at the very least he is a sick and twisted asshole.

The fact that these two people believe that god made them like this, and it is perfectly acceptable for him to do so is in my mind, crazy. It just goes to show the real brainwashing mentality of religion itself.

Does anyone else think this? Or am I on my own here?

"God has a plan" my fucking anus.

Correct of course: "no god can exist, and at the very least he is a sick and twisted asshole."

At the same time, though, I think these girls' lives would be even more hell, for them, if they didn't believe in that cock and bull story. They would kill themselves. Religion apparently makes it possible for them to accept their situation as is. Separation is not an option for them. It would kill both.

So this situation is one of the very, very few where I can see religion having an acceptable effect, however misguided it is.

Wouldn't it suck to keep wondering what that reason is, though?

If one conjoined twin decides to off themself, and the other does not, is it murder or suicide?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Both, in all likelihood both of the twins will die then.

Come to think of it, conjoined twins should be shoe-ins for positions as statesmen. Here we have people who definitely have a bit of practical experience negotiating and settling on mutually agreeable terms.

States(wo)men of a small country then: they've 'learnt' to settle when there's a gun pointed at their head... Of course they have no living alternative. So 'settling' isn't the appropriate word here. 'Duress' is more apt.

Indeed.

The theistic logicians will be all over this claiming it is wrong and that the problem of evil and suffering has been defeated. It hasn't, but can anyone really utter "god has a plan" or "moves mysteriously" and remain morally serious? There is so much unnecessary suffering, to wash it all away through some abstract defense of god in logic is rather missing the point.

I can't stand any of that shit. "Gawd made me this way". Something tells me that either god's a heartless prick or a useless designer. Though I reckon it's both. We had to fix his fucked up job of a banana. He couldn't do that right, but we did. Something tells me that he's extremely incompetent. I wouldn't hire him to put a shelf up. Probably bring the wall down in the attempt.

God's plan, god's rules and god's designs all SUCK!
Some god. Shouldn't be called "god" but a gremlin instead. A gremlin with some power but can only fuck things up since he's too incompetent to do any good.

What I also hate is when people yell out "it's a miracle" when a single boy survives a plane crash. How the fuck is that a miracle? What about all the others? You'd call that a miracle too?
I would call it a miracle if the plane was carefully lowered to the ground with no one hurt and no human, animal or extraterrestrials to thank for the lives saved. That I could call a miracle, not killing everyone on board except one young lad. I call that a horrific disaster!
Anything bad that happens, they give god the free pass card. Anything good happens, god will always get the credit. Crazy fucked up people.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
