Peterson's 12 Rules For Life, have you heard of this?
RE: Peterson's 12 Rules For Life, have you heard of this?
I feel like it's silly to reiterate this..but..he's not actually speaking as a renowned researcher or psychologist when he's railing about cryptomarxist plots and how boys will be boys.  He's speaking as a right wing provocateur.  That's not forthright discussion..it's boilerplate wedge shit. That's what he's renowned for. The service he offers is to legitimize a very specific type of anxiety, and in that..he couldn't have come along at a better time..since the fate of nations was being decided by those same fears.

The whole "greatest canadian intellectual" bit was part of a press blitz for a book..........
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

He claims gender is a factor, not THE factor, but a factor.

That's what i said he;s denying that it's about sex . Thus denying it's THE factor and unfortunately Sweden and a few other pro equality don't make his case.Nor does appealing to the stem success in some places in the middle east .

Learn about correlation.

It's clear that women are paid less.  It's not clear the exact degree to which they are paid less because they are women.

There are several things about women, taken as a population, that make them different than men-- personality traits (i.e. kindness, aggression, etc.), reproductive roles and timing, different interests, and so on.

Unless sexist bosses are imposing reproduction on the mothers, then the financial hit is mainly coming because women tend to care for their babies (no duh), and men tend to carry on with their carries after their offspring are born.

I'm well aware of correlation now for causation

It's pretty clear when you stop making excuses

All of which begs the question if they are inherent traits or taught cultural traits? are they reproduction roles as a culture or as inherent  to sex? are those interests that are natural or imposed ?and so on . None of this makes his case nor refutes an underlying cultural idea's about them being women as the  source of the pay gap .

If Peterson actually believes the stuff he writes about women in this book, he's beyond sexist and more into delusional projections. I suspect at least some of it is part of the game. Finding out what he really thinks, about anything, is almost impossible due to the amount of caveats he uses. This may be the "new him" though, the one that wants to maximize his audience by not excluding anyone.

Except women that is. If a single woman finds this book anything other than hugely patronizing and misinformed, I'd be very surprised. It's clearly aimed at males only, and this makes me suspect it's not all an act.
