I've never used the Quote button.

Rather, I use the Reply button.

Also, I find it easier to edit replies by using the View source (ctrl + shift + s) option.

And you can set it up on your UCP ( https://atheistforums.org/usercp.php?action=options ) so that it's always in source mode - bottom right.

It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

Well the two obvious choices would be to use the quote button or the reply button but if you want the code for quoting it’s like this
